My GP is concerned I may have nerve damage in my hand, thanks to my now exboyfriend who physically abused me. Apparently the ulnar nerve runs from the elbow, down forearm, by the pinky/ring finger into the palm? Anyways I have alot of numbness/tingling with the pinky/ring finger and palm. Tingling etc has occured for a couple of months, but increased after broken finger. He broke my finger (hairline) about 6-7 weeks ago, which is healed. I had a aluminum splint on finger for two and half weeks, but occassionally took it off to give my a finger a rest, without moving it around, disturbing it. My pinky finger bends/crooked while my hand is at rest on a table, arm of a chair or walking around. If I tense my whole arm and hand, pinky finger will straighten out. Even when I make a fist it rotates in and won't bend. Force it down to palm, pops back up. Anyways I am suppose to be starting physiotherapy next week because I also had Carpal tunnel operation about 3 and half months ago. My GP wants me to tell the plastic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery, about all the above when I go see him in 4 weeks for followup. Both are aware of some of the abuse. After surgery, my ex physically abused me including hurting the arm where I had surgery about 4 times- hitting, squeezing, grabbing. Luckily no breaks, but my arm
was constantly sore.
Yes, I did call the police and he was charged with assault, have a restraining order. So far no contact, which is good. Anyone else experienced nerve problems or the above finger problems after a fracture?

Hey sorry to hear what you went through. You'll probably improve with physio but there may be lasting damaged nerve function.Nerve damage typically takes months to heal.

Sounds like your exbf is a scary guy. How long did you actually put up with him? You need a man who treats you right :)

Thanks for your support. :) It will be a long time before I get involved in any relationship. I may get my GP to write the surgeon a letter to explain all my symptoms. Normally I can communicate my concerns, but all of this has been emotionally upsetting and I tend to shut down. I was with him for a year and half. The verbal abuse and control gradually increased during the relationship. The physical abuse started after my carpal tunnel surgery.

I have nerve damage on one of my fingers, after 10 years it still bothers me, the feeling is very weird not exactly pain but it just feels really awful. I would rather have pain than that type of sensation.

Your BF is a Mofo, you must have a brother or have a guy friend that is willing to kick his ass. Scum like this should need to get what they deserve ASAP.

Sorry to hear about your circumstances, I wish you the best.

Sorry if I sound like a broken record.

But why the hell did you stay with him for 1.5 years? Verbal abuse is bad enough, but when physicall abuse happens you should of got out of there. Hopefully the next girl reading this will learn something from this post.
