$500 USD starting bid for a old Dell "CLICKY KEYBOARD"??? Either this guy is completely out of it... or I threw away like $10,000 worth of "vintage" computer equipment in the past year.

That's far too much money, considering that Dell wasn't the owner of the technology in the first place - that belonged to IBM, then Lexmark, and now a company in Lexington KY (I think it's pckeyboards.com). A rebranded clicky keyboard really shouldn't cost *that* much; even an original standard IBM blue-tag or white-tag keyboard shouldn't be more than $100 USD.
But yes, there is a market for vintage keyboards. I'm currently typing on a POS Fujitsu keyboard at work, and there's a huge difference between it and my 1989 IBM Model M "clicky" keyboard.

Ooooh! Those IBM keyboards! I used to use one when I was a sysadmin. I didn't know how much they were worth until I left that company. I should have taken one with me!
They were nice and solid from what I remember. Very heavy. Loud clicky noises though (I already type hard as it is!). PS/2 interface is a little dated.

Why do hardware manufacturers feel the need to add 'click' sounds to everything.?

It's not the "click" sound that's important but the underlying technology.

Dang, that's one expensive and ugly ol' lookin' keyboard. If I want to add a 'click' sound to my typing, I can start using Incredimail again, and turn on that feature.

I'm typing on one of those "clicky" IBM Model M keyboards right now. It's the same as that keyboard on eBay, but from a different brand name.
It's the best keyboard I have ever used. Beats the pants off all the other keyboards out there. Made in 1984, this thing is invincible and can even be used as a blunt weapon.
The 'click' itself is not what is important. It is the underlying metal-spring technology that gives superior tactile feedback and reliability that makes this worthwhile.
I wouldn't put a $500 price tag on it, but this thing is really valuable for me and I would pay over $100 for one.

Well, considering that there are people who would pay hundreds for a PSP box...

Yeah the feel of that style keyboard is really nice. Mine blew out and unhappliy all the dozens we had at work got replaced with something that looks nicer.
