TORONTO - Longtime Toronto Blue Jays announcer Tom Cheek has died at the age of 66.

Radio station 680 News reports Cheek died at his Florida home after a battle with brain cancer.

Cheek had witnessed every Jays game over a 27 year period.

From the franchise's first game on April 7, 1977, until June 3, 2004, Cheek was at the ballpark for every pitch.

He missed his first game in decades because of his father's death.

Just 10 days after his father died and on his 65th birthday, he underwent an operation to remove a brain tumour.

Met him a couple of times at Jays games. Complete class act, very humble and down to earth. We lost a very special person today. He will be missed.

I grew up watching Tom and Jerry the cartoon. I also grew up listening to the announcing team of Tom and Jerry.

"Touch'em all Joe. You will never hit a bigger homerun in your life" :(

RIP Tom

A true voice of the Jays. Back in my university days when I didn't have TV, I faithfully listened to Tom and Jerry everyday I had a chance to. Jerry is a great announcer, and Tom is simply a legend...
