link DVD+R (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10061902&catid=20032)

Best price I've seen for these... they burn great at 8X... still testing it at 16X

Well I would hope they burn well at 8x, since they are rated 16!

These are a ripoff. Go get the current crop of Sony media at Walmart. The 8x +R are MIJ TY media, and they burn at 16x no problem. A few days ago the 50pk was $19.77 but it may be up to $24.97 now. Still a better buy than these Memorex, imo.

ps: your link to the +R doesn't work... I get taken to Microsoft.com for some reason...

These +R disc burns great on the DVR-110D at 12x, 98 QS usually, but that's if they are the RicohJPNR03 MID.

I just burned a disc at 16X... and it was the RicohJPNR03 MID... does this mean this disc is made in Japan?

Nah, no media Ricoh is Japanese, it's all made in Taiwan by Ritek. JPN probably alludes to Ricoh being a Japanese company...

If you can find RICOHJPN R03, it should be pretty good, but i've seen some really crappy Memorex-branded RICOHJPN R03. Anything out of Ritek's factory is very variable in quality..

so the ricohjpn MID is for which memorex dvd format? + or - ?

the other 1 is prodisc MID-coded right?

just thought i'd say that some1 mentioned ricohjpn is supposedly "somewhat better" than prodiscs/optodiscs...

On the DVD-R side of things, you can get CMC, uhh... well... alot of other crap i can't remember. On the DVD+R side, you can get CMC, MCC (usually crappy grade), Prodisc, or Ricoh.

It's possible to pick out RICOHJPN R03 because they're the only 16X Ritek discs Memorex is currently using.

The Ricoh discs can be picked out because they have a spacer UNDERNEATH the discs, whereas as CMC have it on top. However Memorex has that stupid paper insert on the top, which makes it near impossible to check without peeling the plastic packaging back a couple cm.

Happy Thanksgiving guys, i'm off to MTL for the weekend.
