Was at Futureshop, picked up a 25 pack of Dual Layer Memorex DVD+R's for 39.97. Less than 2$ a piece! Thought it was a good deal

Oh yeah, this was at the Kamloops, BC FS!

....I don't know how to start this thread....either you made a mistake or this is the hottest deal this month!!!!!

If these are what you bought: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10061549&catid=12501

They are 99.99$! and you got them for 34.97?

Maybe you mis-read(sp)! Why would Memorex be liquidating Dual Layer stock?????

makes no sense.

If you can, please scan your bill and even maybe check the media code on the discs. Please.

Wow, if they are clearing out their stock, this would be a very hot price, even if they aren't better than Verbatim discs.

I'm going to head over to FS and check it out.

That is the item that I got, I have attached a scan of my reciept, however I was mistalken it was 49.97 not 39.97, sorry about that. They were marked down from 79.97 or something like that, there was about 5 spindles on a clearance table.

Read his post (3 up from yours) where he states that he was "mistaken" and clarified what he paid.

They're clearing them out because nobody wants/needs/can afford 25 poor quality DL discs. I wouldn't even buy them at this price!

For $2 a disc, I would use it for movies I would like to backup in full quality that have the movie size greater than a DVD5 without the extras... which are not that many really. Most I could backup the movie on one DVD and the extras on a second DVD if I wanted full quality.

At regular price, DL discs are a ripoff.

Agree, at this rate, burning movies isn't such a bad idea. Or, you could sell them to your friends for $4 a piece (double) and make a profit.

Yeah, must be a regional/store specific deal, especially if they were on a clearance table.

Went to pick up the 3pk/$9.99 and they were out of stock. Didn't see any hint of this price, as the 25pk spindle was clearly marked for $99.99

I prefer Verbatim's, but I've burned about 20 of these Memorex with only 1 dud, where it failed to burn past 50% at the layer change. The ones that I've burned all play quite happily.

I was at the FutureShop at Laird/Eglinton and they have the Memorex 25-pack on clearance for $79.97 according to the shelf tag. There were about 4 spindles.

Sorry for bumping the topic, but I saw the same 25pack spindles for $29.97 at Warden/7 Futureshop today, there was 4, picked one up, so there are 3 left as of today.

It was too hard to resist.

So how good exactly are these?

I was at the FS at Laird/Eglinton and they're still priced at $79.97.

Did the salesperson mark them down or did they scan at that price ?

Too bad they are Ritek which is a big no no for my Benq 1640, otherwise I'll pick one up for sure.

Each spindle has a paper taped on saying $79.97 but crossed out with pen and written in $29.97.

I noticed that the same 15 packs appears on the shelves for $69.97, lol.

Good deal for some drink coasters! but thats about it... Ritek=CRAP these=CRAP and not worth it... unless you have no intentions on reading the stuff at a later point...

I think it depends on what burner he has, if he has one that can burn them well, that's a very good deal.

Generally speaking, I do agree that they are crap, preferrably landfill material. I remember hearing someone say "CMC", their MIS, stands for "crap media company", haha!

Anyways, my burner is LG 4163B with the A105(latest) firmware installed. I also have an LG 4160B with the A104 firmware, on my other computer. I haven't tried these (babies?) yet, because I don't know if I should keep them (the price is tempting), so I'll let you guys know. I haven't burned any dual layer media with my drive yet, unfortunately.

Anyone have any experience with either LG burners with dual layer disks in general, as well as specific to these Memorex "C.M.C." dual layer disks?

Memorex +DL should be Ritek code, my Benq 1640 don't like the code otherwise I would have drove to that FS (5 minutes away) after I saw your post and get one for myself.

You should able to find some comments about it with someone who has the same burner here

Did they scan automatically at $29.97 ?

I was at another FS and they had some clearance Benq 50-pack dvd+r. One person told me they were $39.97 while another said they were $15.97.

No, they scan at $79.97, I got the last pack at that location for a friend who lives downtown and has the new Pioneer.

Sorry, they were right to flame you... it's a P.O.S.

It can't burn RWs very well at all, and the default speeds on Verbatim DVD±RDL media produce coasters (if the drive doesn't kick the burn speed down to 4x during mid-burn from 8x). It also doen't support a lot of non-Japanese media, and the burn quality is nothing special even on the media that *IS* supported. There is no reason to buy the Pioneer DVR-110D unless all you want is to be able to burn Ritek DVD+RDL.

Only a fraction do, like Gran Turismo 4. Only new games, and a fraction of new games, so DL media is still for movies.

Thanks, reviews seem to be mixed, but the reviews there are using older firmware (around 6 months old), so I don't know...

Another thing is, I don't know if FS/BB can make do this price again during Boxing week, because if so, I can wait, but this price is pretty unbelievable. Since they're clearing it out, I'm guessing 4x DL media will be coming, and if so, those definately won't be for $1.2 a piece.
