I don't know where everybody else buys batteries from. I bought a set of batteries and charger off ebay from a seller about a year ago for a decent price. Since then, i receive emails from the seller every few weeks about new promotions on batteries. Now, he is running a website offering free shipping in canada for over $50. Here is the website : link (http://pilesenligne.com). Their batteries are very good quality.
Here is a coupon code you can knock off $15 for order over $50.
bg850tlv159
with above coupons, each battery will cost about $2.50 to $3.00. I think it's not bad price.
NOTE: Once you add any item into your cart, you will see extra discount show up automatically, and you can use the coupon on top of that.
Here is another coupon al975tlv199 25% off order over $100

Avoid Pure energy at all cost!! Few of my friends and myself have used pure energy. they all die after only few charges. the charger can't be used to charge any other batteries. WM has them for even cheaper!!! won't buy them even at $2.....

I just did some testing with their cart and check out system. You have to have $50 or more to quality for shipping. Something i found was wield. When i added an addidtional battery case, it brought the total price down. My total was $47 after all discount and coupons. The battery case cost $7, so i added it, then my total bacame to $43. The discount changed from $7 to $21. I guess it's a bug with their system....

Aren't Pure Energy just RAM batteries and not Nimhs.
if you are talking about Pure Energy's RAM's, then, yes they are crap, they leak if you do not constantly use them and recharge them

any NiMH rechargeable battery is good. I use the Duracell AA rechargeables and they are great for what I want to use it for. They last long with discman's, mp3 players, digital cameras etc.... besides you can get a decent deal on them if you get it on sale.

Does anyone know where in the GTA one can just find those battery cases? I have lots of batteries and could use some nice plastic cases to keep them organized.

Last time I checked Costco has the 6AA+2AA (?)combo for 19.99 and the Sanyo-branded charger with 4x2300mah AA batts for 29.99
Personally, I picked up the Futureshop Panasonic charger/battery deal for 24.99 and it's working great. Great deal for the money.
If I didn't get that deal I would order from www.paulsfinest.com and get the Powerex maha bundle. Plus, you get battery holders too. But the panny deal was too good to pass up since I only really use AA rechargables for my digicam so I don't need a super-nice charger/batt system.

personally i get my ni-mh batts from "theshorelinemarket" on ebay. the 2300 mAh AA's work out to about $2 each after shipping. he has 10,000 mAh D cells too. no problems so far.

i dont see why everyone is so against P.E. Ive had mine for about 2 months, did at least 15 charges so far and hasnt had a problem charging. And who cares if you cant charge other batteries in it? its $17, not like I need to.
The only thing is, one pair of my batteries I notice its causes my mouse to go jerky a few times, but once I recharge it..it was fine. its happened a few times, only after a few days of use in the mouse. This kinda worries me.

Pure Energy (http://www.pureenergybattery.com) make rechargeable alkalines and they have different chemistry than Ni based batteries. Recharge and discharge characteristics are fundamentally different.

I just bought some batteries and a Maha charger from www.thomasdistributing.com ... looks to be a lot cheaper than paulsfinest.com.
For my own interest and to see if the quoted poster is in/correct I did a quick comparo between the two:
ThomasDistributing, 401 charger plus 8x2500mah powerex batts, free travel bag and two batt covers ~ 64.08 and converted into CAD is currently ~ 76.47 CAD before any taxes/duties.
Paulsfinest, 401 charger with 8x2500mah powerex batts, two batt covers is ~ 92 bucks CAD including all taxes and all shipping (shipped to me, in BC) total.
So, i'm not sure how much taxes/duties customs will charge the Thomas Distributing will eventually rack up to ... but it looks like it may be a slightly better deal from TD as you also get the carry case.
That's probably because of the ton of volume TD does. If the CAD wasn't as strong against the US dollar like in the past the TD deal wouldn't be competitive.

Also would like to mention - avoid any noname batteries, especially rechargeables - I had bad experience with some where they would charge maybe 10-20 times and then would not hold charge at all from any subsequent charges. SInce that time I stick with well known or recommended brands only. ;)

I bought Pure Energy rechargable alkalines because I needed the full 1.5 voltage per cell, the 1.2 volts of a Nicad etc. just didn't work.
Most of these batteries started to leak after a while and ruined whatever they were installed in.

ahh... I should have mentioned I had it shipped to an Amerifriend (3.99 flat rate shipping within the US). But they do ship to Canada through USPS.
There are some things at Thomas Distributing that are pretty cheap and some that are just ok prices. I got the Maha C204F charger with 4xAAA batteries and the car adapter for 19.97. You can then add on as many packs of rechargeable batteries at a discount - 4x Maha/Energizer 2500mAh for 9.50, 4x Lenmar 2300mAh for 5.90, etc.

Strange. I've use Pure Energys for a couple years now, and have never had a leak. They won't last for as many charge cycles as nimh, but I tend to think of them as better than regular alkaline, instead of inferior to nimh. They also have much better charge retention than nimh (which will deplete in a few weeks, used or not) so they're great for low usage things like remotes, flashlights, etc.

Agreed, my folks and I have used Pure Energy for 7-8 years and only had 2-3 leak. About the same ratio as Duracell in our experience, except due to recharging, we've gone through a lot less Pure Energy. (In fact, in all that time, the only Pure Energys we've had to replace were those 2-3...) And once you clean up the mess, I've never had any electronics quit working due to leakage. Everything in our houses that use AA or AAA have Pure Energys in them.
I'm surprised to hear about the troubles other people are having with them. I've always strongly recommended them.

3-pk Battery Cases
work out to be 57.50 in total....that's $2.39 per battery, plus free tester and cases......
ok that's freakin weird - but it did the same for me. I added the cases and it dropped the price...
edit - ok, for orders over $75 it will automatically deduct 25% and then you can apply the $15 off coupon... wish I'd see the 25% off of $100 a little sooner... a $100 order would be .75*.75*$100 = $56... which means free shipping. damn.

when only the best will do and your one to demand performance from your batteries, plus want to have a quick charge time purchase only the Rayovac IC3.
I have 12 of the AA batteries and have been impressed by their performance. Used in Nikon flash, and Nikon SLR camera, and R/C transmitter. High discharge low discharge these batteries last long and to boot charge in 15mins!
I bought mine at Walmart. They may also be found at Radio Shack and FutureShop.
Of course you get what you pay for.

Pure energy batteries are great if you keep charging them. If you ever let them run dead then they aren't going to last long. If you keep charging them after every couple hours of use they will last. I've had the same set of pure energy's for over 2.5 years and they still work like new.

Hey guys... I was at the local Shopper's Drug Mart this evening and noticed that they had a sign saying that the Duracell (Rechargeable Accu) 30-minute quick charger + 4 AA's are on clearance for $32.99. Their regular price is $63.99. I can't tell you much more about them as they were all sold out and only the sign was left. I bought the 1-hour quick charger + 4 AA (2050mAh) batteries last year during their other clearance for $24.99, so for the 30-minute quick charger, the $32.99 price might be an alright deal. So far the set I bought last year has been excellent.
