Not sure if this is hot or not?

Seen here! (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1004009&Tab=0&NoMapp=0)

I know that TD's MIRs aren't popular around here but it seems like a good deal before the MIR.

The reviews (here (http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/FeedBack/CustRatingReview.asp?DEPA=1&Item=N82E16814150106) and here (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1004009&Tab=11&NoMapp=0) ) seem positive for an unlock to a GT or Ultra!

Updated title!

Ha ha ha!!! Very Hot...that's pretty funny. You're right, the card runs pretty hot. Esp. if you open the pipes but even when you don't.

good price for a 6800. Heard these XFX run hot, so good cooling is needed to overclock it. Would be a better deal if the pipelines unlock.

Who cares about the heat. Cook your eggs on it in the morning.

XFX is world famous for having DOUBLE-LIFETIME warranty.

you've got NOTHING to worry about; this is HOT

Huh? The 6800 vanilla cards run cool compared to pretty much any other cards of that generation (cooler than 6600s, and cooler than X800s)

Thanks for the deal.

Ps. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.

If you want to avoid a rebate, ATIC has this card for $215. The usual price for this card is about $160-180 USD.

:(
I just bought a BFG Geforce 6200 for $130 after MIR and taxes. I probably wouldn't buy this still as this is online only. I wish I had a CC.

I still use AGP... got a Sapphire 9800Pro though. How does the 6800 compare to 9800Pro

I'm still on AGP also, I hate how people are being fooled into thinking the upgrade to PCIE is neccessary..

9800pro vs. 6800? pretty large gap. Even the 6600 GT has a huge leg on top of the 9800pro.

For a COMPLETE analysis of all the major AGP cards check out TomsHardware Summer AGP Guide (http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/index.html) . Shoes all the major benchmarks for games at different resolutions and AA/AF. Great for comparisons.

I love my 256MB 9800 Pro, never even bothered to OC it.

ROFL at the PCI-E AGP-crappers...

Because current cards can OBVIOUSLY utilise that extra bandwidth so much better than AGP!!

Correct me if I'm being an idiot :P

This not the same card but believe the results would be the same.

Performance AGP PCIE (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NzE2LDEw)

One question many people have been concerned about with the latest games out these days is if there are any performance differences between identical AGP and PCI-Express video cards. In this review, we attempted to answer that question. In every game and scenario we tested, performance was the same between the AGP and PCI-Express versions of the GeForce 6600GT OC from BFGTech. We saw no performance advantages of PCI-Express over AGP, and both cards allowed the same quality settings in games. As of right now, we can confidently state that there is no difference in game performance between AGP and PCI-Express 6600 GT video cards.

I guess the advantage of PCIe is basically SLI (for those with the dough to buy 2 x $400 video cards) and the fact the PCIe seem to be a little cheaper since alot of the cards use extra hardware to make the bridge from PCIe to AGP.

So which is better, this XFX 6800 or the ATI X800 Pro refurb from ATI with 256 MB for $229, as has been discussed in other threads?

The refurb price for the X800Pro is more realistic, since it compares almost evenly with the 6800. However, since the 6800 is supposedly very easy to upgrade via drivers, it looks like a much better buy. And it's not a refurb. Compare benchmark results here (http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/digest3d/index0507.html) and you'll see that they trade off wins based on games. HL2 is better on ATI, Doom 3 is better on nvidia, etc.

Easy answer? I'd say go with the 6800.

The 6800NU is a lot faster than the 9800pro. Last year, I sold my 9800pro and upgraded to a 6800Nu and saw a large performance increase. Not to mention the fact that they overclock really well and can probably also unlock the extra 4 pixel pipelines and extra vertex shader.

first off I am surprised this hasn't been posted or been tagged a repost since this has has been on sale for about 2 weeks now. As to the the comparisons its been discussed before in the ati clearance thread with the consensus that the ati is probably faster but when people argue they throw in reviews benchmarks yadayada and each is dependant on the drivers. Theres been so many reviews anything later than august is pointless because the same comparisons from july to august show different results. Its funny but its mainly due to drivers or who supplied the cards and what drivers they released with them for testing(its all commercially tainted). The 2 things to consider is this. The nvidia offer 3.0 shaders and ati only does 2.0b(remember bf2 and ti4200 who didn't have shader support this could be an issue down the road). The other is the ati is 256 meg and this is 128, again with games like bf2 and high texture detail this down the road will become an issue as well. The question between chosing one of these cards is which will be the bigger issue in the future. Will it be the shader support or ram. Answer that and you know whats the best choice.

What does the length of time a products been on sale have to do with whether it's a hot deal or a repost?
