It appears the odds posted for the first day of hockey are quite low, most of the underdog wins are below 2.00

A bit off topic, does anybody know for sure what the rules are regarding ties? I've heard conflicting rules. One said that as long as the game goes to OT after the 3rd period, a tie counts for Pro Line. Another said that the game has to go to a shootout for it to count as a tie.

Last time they had hockey it was once the third period ends and there is a tie, it counts as a tie. It was introduced only a couple years ago after they created the four on four overtime rule. Previously the game has to end in a tie, Proline just wants to screw the people who doesn't pick ties.

According to Gamesheet 913:
Ties include Overtime
Final Results include Shootout
Over/Under results include Shootout
Winner of shootout is credited with one goal
So if the game remains tied after OT then the Tie is a winner. Shootout winning-side is also the winner.

hey how do shootout goals effect statistics?
so if its 3 - 3into shootout and 3 peopel score in the shootout
is it
5 - 4?? or credited a 4 - 3 win??
im talking overall, not for proline. also how does it accumulate for personal statistics?
do they get teh goal for their own stats?

If I understand the rules correctly, if it's still 3-3 heading into a shootout, each team will shoot 3 times, and the team that scores the most goals wins the game with a final score of 4-3, regardless of how many goals either team scores in overtime. If it's still tied after the shootout, then they go to sudden death shootout. That is, each team shoots until one team scores and the other team fails to score. Shootout goals and goals against do not count towards the player's or goalie's stats.

Hockey
Q21: How do the new hockey overtime and shootout rules affect PRO LINE?
A: Under hockey's new rules, the winning team is credited with one additional goal for winning the shootout that will follow a 5-minute overtime period (regardless of the number of scores in the shootout itself). For example, a game tied at 3-3 following regulation play and the overtime period, and then goes to a shootout will have a final result of 4-3 regardless of the number of scores in the shootout itself. Final hockey results as recorded by OLGC for our wagering games will be determined in the same way.
Q22: Do PRO LINE and OVER/UNDER final results include shootouts?
A: For PROLINE (including OVER/UNDER option), final results will include both the 5-minute overtime period PLUS the shootout that will be used if a score is still tied after the 5-minute overtime period.
Q23: Will ties still be available for wagering even though hockey has changed its rules to have shootouts to ensure that there's always a winning team and a losing team in a hockey game?
A: Yes, we still offer wagers on Tie outcomes. A Tie result will be based on regulation play PLUS the 5-minute overtime period. This means that the same hockey game can still result in BOTH a win (based on regulation play PLUS overtime PLUS shootout) and a Tie (based on regulation play PLUS overtime but NOT including a shootout).
Q24: Why still have wagers on hockey ties when the hockey league no longer allows ties?
A: Our players enjoy have a variety of options on how to wager on the outcome of a hockey game. To make our games more interesting, we've always offered wagers that are not based on how a league decides the winner of a contest. For example, under PRO LINE rules, we offer Tie outcomes on baseball even though baseball games are played until one team scores more runs than the other.
Q25: How will the new rules for hockey and all the big changes on many team rosters affect the odds that OLGC offers on hockey wagers?
A: Odds still reflect the relative strengths and weaknesses of teams, and the past performances of teams and players. We will be carefully monitoring how the rule changes affect scoring, and we will continue to use a variety of sources of information to help set the odds.
Q26: Why are hockey odds not available for a full week at a time?
A: We are currently issuing hockey odds twice per week to better assess how the new league rules are affecting play.
