If anyone sees good late season deals on a quality, entry level front suspension mountain bike, please let me know. I'm talking about bike shop bikes and not sporting goods store type bikes.

Specialized, Rocky Mountain, Norco, Marin, Kona, stuff like that.

TIA.

I got an awesome Norco last year from a local bike shop.
As far as I know it was very very affordable, shimano gears, shocks ect.. and its the best bike I've ever had.

I see Sport Check always having crazy bike deals.

since it's near the end of bike season you'll find some great deals in your local shops. set aside $600-$1000 for a canondale, specialized, kona...the list goes on and on. if you're near yonge & steeles try "silent sports" for their warehouse/retail store. it's mostly high-end but there are a few entry level bikes as well. stick with purchasing a complete groupo because it'll hold its value for resale (ie. same quality shifters, dérailleur, bb & crank). you don't have to skimp on quality for your first bike -- do your research and it'll last you a couple of seasons, sell it at a bike swap and upgrade to a better bike after you've raced locally and your skills improve. shops are desperate to free up floor space to sell snowboards and willing to deal :) good luck and enjoy the ride!

Bike Zone in Mississauga near Lakeshore between Cawthra and Hurontario is having a clearance. Check them out. From what I saw, it was either an entry level bike or high end. 90% of the mid-range $1500-$2000 bikes were all sold out or extremely large.

The Toronto Bicycle show is coming up on October 15th. One day only.

If you're interested in a DH bike, I'm planning on selling my Norco VPS 1 with XTR/XT mix for just over $1000. Let me know.
