Yesterday my girlfriend and I witnessed a small baby mouse by the bread section at Fortinos...the one near Hwy7 and Weston road. A worker came by and used a snow shovel to put it in a fruit box. The mouse was super fast though and it took a while before the frustrated worker caught the poor little fella. I have a feeling that there are more babies around.

We still bought bread though.

Yes and no.
Yes, there might be offspring roaming around, touching cans, poking holes in bags, etc.
No, because Health Inspection usually visits, and checks the facility, if they knew mice are quite evident, they'd close them down till it's fixed. Just wash your canned goods, in case a mouse has came in contact with it.
Also, where was this? Not many Fortinos in GTA, I think some in Brampton. And rest are in Hamilton/Ancaster. :D

Do all these types of animals have babies at this time of the year? I've noticed a lot of baby squirls around campus today.

this reminds of something funny... about few years ago this little bird was found in the backyard. It wasnt at the stage to fly yet so i brought him in and after few days my little cousin came over to my house (6 years old) and he was playing with it. After a while i noticed he wasnt playing with it anymore, so i went to check him out and when i asked him where did the bird go? he pointed his finger to toilet!! he said he flushed it. Evil kids!!!

He wrote "near Hwy 7 & Weston Road". I know you just love to post to boost your post-count, but try reading for comprehension next time.

Saw a little mouse at the Silvercity Riverport a bunch of years ago.

Little fellah did not seem to mind tons of people walking around.

Maybe he wanted to "Stuart Little 2"?

uhh you probrably don't know much about grocery stores then. I work in one i won't say the location and there used to be mice like baby ones running around. We poisoned them I think but the whole place started to smell cuz they died in places that we couldn't reach. But every grocery store has them because they probrably just come in with the delivery trucks. my store even has birds that fly around cuz they flew in through the doors. I knew people who worked in other stores and they had mice too.

i work at a certain big box hardware store that isnt home depot... or home hardware.

anyways, i've worked there a year, and had to clean up numerous mice nests. all with 5+ babies who can barely move, and the parents running in circles around the aisle. they make a mess of products too and smell like ass.

not to mention the dead thing's i've had to clean laying around.

as far as i know, there is something in mouse crap that can cause hepatitus (b or C?) so if this BS happens again, im cashing in on the "right to refuse unsafe work"

i had pics on my old phone... but i sold it.

mice are not uncommon grocery stores same with other rodents and bugs . if u ever are in the backrooms of the stores u will see traps every where .

i mean if u think about it
Q- where do we go for food ? A- grocery stores
why wouldnt the mice go there as well they have more instincts for hunting and finding food then we do . plus with there size go unnoticed in a truck that has a shipment of food.

Theres also more in the winter cuz its cold outside. So when the doors open they just walk in,

Y'know, that would explain the sale on raisin bread.

I remember going to Kerney almost 10 years ago (a camp owned by Scarborough School Board next to Algonquin) and the whole class was listening to a bedtime story. All of a sudden a classmate pointed at the wall... I'm like what? A mouse! And all 30 students jumped on top of a couch (boys and girls); girls crying of course :cheesygri

The memories :p

Too bad with all the education cut back students are only allowed to stay 2-3 nights instead of 5.

they're animals in any food store. At T&T I noticed they have birds flying around the store.

Squirrels usually breed during January and July. You'll see 2 or more males chasing after the females.

On a totally unrelated note, I remember going to Kerney a bit over ten years ago. One of my best trips I've had I would have to say. Thinking about that reminds me that I should've wrote down some contact information of my friends back then. Wouldn't it be interesting if some of my old classmates go to this forum...

I'm not sure about hepatitis but I do know that you can catch the hantavirus from mouse droppings.

You should always use bleach or some other kind of strong disinfectant to clean up the droppings and make sure to have some sort of respiratory and hand protection.

Guess what guys, anywhere you buy your groceries from, there is going to be mice there. It's just the way it is in grocery stores.

I have yet to see a grocery store that didn't have mice in it. I worked at a No Frills (won't say which one for obvious reasons) and we had mice like crazy. So the owner went and bought a large tank, and we would keep them as pets in the staff lunch room. We would feed them damaged food items (bread, raisins, fruit, etc). Eventually the health department said we couldn't keep it in the store, so we had to get rid of it.

Easiest way to catch/kill mice:

put a bucket of cold water near places where the mice like to hang out. Make sure the mice have a ladder to climb up the bucket/pail. You can use a piece of wood, cardboard, books, cans, near a wall, etc. Put some nuts in the water if you want.

The mouse will climb up the bucket and jump into the water (maybe to drink water). Eventually, it will drown. Quick, easy and FREE.

Tell your friends who work in stores and restaurants.
