I want to get a big screen tv for my condo, i know very little about the market though. I understand that HDTV's are good and mroe than likely the way to go. Other than that i dont know what i should get. I dont want to spend to much money (2000 is around my max but will go farther if warranted, would perfer a great bang for the buck tv though that was less than 2k). Anyone got some ideas or atleast some hints as to what to look for and what to avoid in them?
I was looking at this one the other day and really liked it

Some things we need to know first. How big is the room and how far do you intend on sitting from the T.V.
The T.V. you linked to will look VERY big and take up a lot of room in your condo. I have a 47" rptv it it sticks out a lot. You may want to consider a 32" LCD T.V. and mount it on the wall.

If you must have a rptv, then take a look at the LCD rptv's. Way thinner and much easier to live with as you don't have to worry about convergence issues.

Also keep in mind that if you watch a lot of "regular" t.v., the picture will look like crap compared to a tube t.v. (the tube is still the king for picture quality). At the very least you should have a digital set top box and even then the picture isn't very good. HDTV looks fantastic but not many television programs are shot in true HDTV (mostly upconverted standard signal) and in any event you don't watch them that often (at least I don't).
Lots of information about big screen T.V. here:
