View Full Version : WTF is this driver giving me a finger for?!

[H]ackerK
Sep 28th, 2005, 04:32 PM
I was on 404 northbound, driving on the 2nd right-most lane before 407 (cuz I know the right-most is must exit)

Just shortly passed 407 exit, my left there was a car following a truck. The driver had a headset on, not sure if she is on the phone or not... all of the sudden decided to change lane w/o signal and you guessed, in to my lane. I was like maybe 10 meters away. Just as her car crossed the dotted line, and she looks back and saw me and swing back to her lane. Than just as I almost passing by her, she gaves me the 'WTF' hand signal (At first I thought she try to say sorry..). Then once I passed her, she pulls behind me and keep showing off her middle fingers (yes both hands off the wheel) all the way to Hwy 7 exit.

I wish I had the car camera in place today to tape this bi*ch...

Personally, if I saw that in my rear-view mirror - a person waiving both hands with the royal salute, I'd tap my brakes :P

Just enough to scare the shite out of em...

One day, I'd just love to have a car full of my buddies and have someone do that to me. I'd personally get all my friends to roll down their windows and moon them. Like, literally, bare asses out the window on a 400 series highway. Hell, get em to turn around and piss on the car, if they keep it up.

maybe she didn't tell you to f-- off but the two handed bird was to say she wanted to do the nasty with you instead.

Maybe she is too excited and wants to show me her diamond rings (but I guess the diamond were too small)

I just down one gear to slow down (no break lights!)

Crazy driver... Wonder where do they learn driving... Which I just think of an age old questions.... I bet there are people driving w/o licenses, but seems like there is no way to enforce that w/o the person getting caught... isn't that suck?!

tapping your brakes just makes an annoying situation turn into a bad one. i saw 2 couples go at it fist to fist (they both pulled over, started yelling, then started throwing the fists). who needs that drama?

just drive along and complain about it later on rfd.

That's another reason why I don't tap on breaks and just try to ignore those idiots who hought the own the road... sigh.

If someone is going to tail you and give you the finger, go for it. I'm all for feeding road rage. Personally, I don't think there's enough of it on the streets and I advocate blowing on the flames until you get a good entertaining case of it.

Maybe that's just because I'm a big enough guy, and I look sufficiently threatening that nobody would bother trying dumb stuff like that with me. If they got really mad, like going insane in their car, I'd probably point and laugh. Maybe stick out my tongue and make a licking gesture. Anything to get them really pissed off.

If you're really concerned about this escalating into a dangerous situation, always be sure to hide a replica handgun under your seat.

Yes, but no. that's an highway traffic act Part X, Section 180 offend.

Littering highway prohibited

haha...i've had a similar situation

i was sitting shotgun in my bro's car and he was waiting for this on-coming car to pass so he could make a left into a plaza. When this car was about 2 car lengths away, it slowed down... then the driver looks right at us and gives us the finger.

It was so weird that it ended up being funny instead of offensive.

Don't worry about it. If it's one thing I've learnt living in the GTA is that there are a lot of shameless people among us who are pretty brassed faced/boldfaced and these are often the ones who like to be "wrong and strong".

Just leave them and avoid them like the plague.

You could follow her to her destination then ask ? But be ready to escalate the situtation.

Or just forget about it. Why do you care if some moron lady flips the bird to you ? Yes its rude but thats society today.

I had to work abit in Dallas, and when we drove around its legal to carry loaded shotguns in the backseat and handguns on your person. Its like the culture, its both good and bad but youve got to think twice in those situations, its not like here.

However if you were being harassed by some soccer-mom in a Ford Windstar in Markham I dont think its really worth it to get upset.

If its a tough-guy drive to the Police station.

Something like that happened to me the other day, I went to pass an F150 truck and just as I got to just about his bumper he decided to change lanes into the passing lane, cutting me off (no signal), if I hadn't hit th breaks he would have take my bumper with him, anyway I hit the horn, and he kept going and once he also passed the car infont of him I passed him, and he gave me the finger??! After HE cut me off.

I got that once. ******* in a minivan with wife and kids cut me off and gave me the finger, and his kids were making faces out the back window. So I followed him. From weston/Hwy 7 to Bayview and Finch....every time he changed lanes, I changed lanes. wouldn't let anyone come between us, didn't back off when he tried the tapping brakes. Finally he pulled into a strip mall...I cruised up, and asked him what he was doing...he didn't answer, just sat staring straight ahead...I told him not to be an *******, because one day he'll piss off someone with a gun in the car. Stupid prick...he deserved to get scared.

The best I can think of is that she might have thought you were driving in her blind spot.

That always pisses me off when cars drive in my blind spots for extended periods of time. Either slow down or speed up so that the other drives know where you are.

oh man.. i hate that so much.

I think thats why she was probably pissed at you. After she attempted to cut you off, you sped up. but not too fast I assume. And she wants to exit and you are basically blocking her from the exit. Well, thats the most logical explaination.

Regardless, please stay out of blind spots. its very annoying.

omg.. I can't believe someone's complaining about people driving in blindspots. I understand if you're talking about an extremely long period of time but are we not told to check our blindspots when we change lanes in driving school?..

I wouldn't imagine anyone giving me the finger when I was just driving along and a car in the lane next to me decided to swurve into my car.

I'm pretty sure she was just pissed that you didn't let her in after the incident and decided to speed up.. might have missed her exit like the person above said.

The proper way to do it is to keep your foot on the gas and tap your brakes, this way your car doesn't slow down, but your brake lights come on

Huh? How does that make sense? If you're in the fast lane and the person is in your blind spot, than you should go faster obviously. If you're both in slow lanes, than you just have to drive faster if you don't want someone sitting in your blind spot.

You aren't the only car on the road, maybe you should speed up or slow down to get the other person out of the blindspot? Anyways, if they were in your blindspot, how did you know they were there? ;)

I Always use my cruise control on the highways, if it happens that I'm in someones blindspot, then I am -- however very rarely do 2 cars drive at the same speed on the roads...

I always try to stay out of people's blind spot, mainly bcuz I see so many people change lane w/o checking it and I don't want to get hit.

In this case I *wasn't* even in her blind spot, I was on her RIGHT lane and she just happens to driving a bit slower cuz she was following a truck. As my car is approching, she make a sudden move and try to change lane w/o signal. The first time she gives me a 'hand signal' was when I am appx 10 meters behind her and she saw me coming. (in fact, if she step on it, she could of pull ahead of me w/ a lane change)

Anyways, I guess I just happens to see another stupid/rude/dumbass driver the other day.
