$20/hour for upper level high school...
Elementary I'd say $10-12 since upper level high school students can tutor this level..I'd bet they'd even settle for $8

well its 20-25 an hr regardless of how many kids are there
personally I wouldn't tutor them at the same time their harder to control that way and will be easily distracted
either way I'd still charge 20-25

You must be a tutor trying to milk this guy of his money.
Grade 4 and 6? Hire some upper high school kids and give them $8 an hour..
If it's math, try www.kumon.com (they also have an English program, but I haven't tried it)

for that much money, i'd tutor multiple highschool kids.
for grade school kids, $10 ~ $12 /h is fine, 2 kids at same time, i'd say $15/h total.

the going rate for private tutoring in toronto is approx. $24. it can be lower, it can be higher depending on demand/availability and subject matter. there are season'ed tutors who resist teaching and built a business on private visits because they earn a higher paycheck.
you can always send them to math school when classes are over in the afternoon or fit your kids into one session and search for a quality tutor to come to your home. don't skimp. young children pick up bad habits that stay with them and highschool'ers/university students looking to earn babysitting money masquerading as tutors do more harm than good.
in toronto, there's a network of current TDSB (toronto district school board) teachers moonlighting as tutors in their off hours. mention it to your kid's teacher and for recommendations. this way, you know the tutor is qualified, understands the curriculum and is accountable with his/her peers if something is amiss. don't skimp on your kid's education.

Depends on the qualifications.
I'd say $10/hr/kid.
If you're getting someone in university, maybe $15/hr/kid.
Any higher or professional, you'd be wasting your money teaching your kid the multiplication table. $25-30/hr/kid.

most teacher have office hours, usually at lunch or other scheduled time, try that first since it's free. Is grade school curriculum so hard now people need tutors?

$20-25 - it depends on the quality of the tutor.
If you want some grade 8 student teaching your grade 6 student, fine, $5 an hour plus a bag of chips.
But if you require any extra depth then youve got to pay up.
Its not just showing the person how to add, its more like providing background material and explaining non-apparent concepts to develop understanding and thus hopefully aide progression to "the next level."

I'd agree, same rates another tutor offered us.
OR, you might be able to find some that are volunteering (will do it for free), but most likely they'll be students.

I charge $20 an hour to tutor the grade 12 and university sciences one-on-one, but I'd probably make it $10-15 an hour for elementary students.

ya but you have multiple kids to tutor therefore your making money on volume if those are his only 2 kids then I would charge 20 - 25 bucks an hr.
my aunt is paying 20 bucks an hr and thats actually cheap. Go to any organization where they offer tutoring services and they will charge you 40-50

I'm sure you can find tutors for $50, just like you can find some for $10.
Question is, is there a difference between the $10 and $50 tutor? Probably, but is it worth 5x the price? Probably not, especially not for grade 4 and 6.

I'm a qualified elementary school teacher, and right now I being paid $18/hr, regardless of what the grade is of the child. I work with a company so they charge the client anywhere from $35-45 an hour. The range depends on how many hours they pre buy. My clients at the moment include children from Grade 3 to Grade 11, university preparation course.
hope that helps

If a kid needs a tutor in grade school, he's probably a write-off anyways. Save your money, just teach him how to make Big Macs or bag groceries.

My girlfriend charges $30 for high school, $25 for below that. However, she specializes mostly in Korean clients who have just immigrated so she is able to communicate fluently in both languages. It sounds expensive I guess but she also takes them out on day trips and stuff for free (like to Wonderland). I'm sure she's great with it because she has several new non Korean clients from referrals and has enough business to turn away clients. I agree these prices would be too high for just simple grade school, but once you add the ESL element, then I think a good tutor makes a huge difference.
If she feels the child doesn't need tutoring, she will let the parents know in order to not waste their money.
Personally I tutor on the side, but usually only University students, and mostly for business essays and projects (edit and research only, no cheating). I also charge $30 an hour for that. Seems to be worth it since I started with 1 student and got referred to another 10. Thank god I only help with project stuff and don't have regular weekly times or else I'd have no free time :)
