Hi, I know this has been covered before after doing a search. But I coudln't get a definite answer.
I have something to ship from the states. Only worth about 1 dollar. They plan to ship it through UPS. What is the best way to go? I know some have mentioned expidited or air will avoid the brokerage/duty fees?
How much is it to ship ground? How much are the fees when the item costs so little?
Thanks,

usps is the best way to ship things from the us and cost is less than $5 us. to avoid duty, tell the seller to mark the item as a gift.

a dollar? can't it just be placed in an envelope and mailed??
go UPS expedited and you'll probably be paying $20 for shipping. doesn't sound worth it.

OK, thanks for the tips. USPS = US Postal service right? mm... well this thing wont' fit in an envelop that's the problem.
Is it illegal to tell this company to mark it as a gift?

well its more or less legal but
even though u mark it as a commercial sample and its 1$, US Customs wont even bother charge you anything
DONT send through UPS or they will charge brokerage fees
USPS is the way togo

USPS = US's Canada Post
Yeah, put it in either larger envelope or MediaMail (if it qualifies)
$1? Don't tell me it's a parcel?
You can say it's gift of $1 of merchandise of $1, doesn't matter
You have $60 allowance (gift) and $20 (merchandise) respectively
good luck!

lots of different sized envelopes,,,, or packages can still go through US postal. I would always say its a gift and low $ amount. You have to play the game!!!

I had a 7 pound laptop shipped to me from the US using USPS, not marked gift (cuz he forgot), and marked at $100 us in value. Got charged NOTHING. the box was pretty big! From about 10 items I've bought from ebay and using the seller to use USPS to ship it, I have never been charged duty
Once I ordered 2 tshirts and 2 sweaters all in one shipped in a medium sized box, the seller shipped them using UPS. It got here but I didnt answer the door. He left a notice saying I owe $80 in Duties, and UPS charges!!?? Im like hell no am I paying that! So the 3rd attempt to deliver at my doot he just left the box on the step, and I got charged nodda!! WOW
