What do you plan to do with it?

I will be gaming, he's going to use Adobe Creative Suite 2 and MAME. Hmm, I guess this is a no-brainer?
I think the second system will be too powerful for his needs. Maybe I can sell this Intel combo and get a lower speed processor and motherboard and some other goodies? But after following the selling forum for a month, there's no appetite for an intel motherboard and cpu of this class.

This forum is NOT the only for-sale place. There are others. Like newsgroups, ebay & your local computer clubs. Or even friends, coworkers, etc.
How did you deal with the P4 defeaning HSF when running under stress?

in that case, you were right... you get A64, brother gets intel :)

I wouldn't know about that. I've never assembled a LGA775 system before. In fact, I've never seen a LGA775 system in action. Uh oh. What are you saying?

Both components are over a year old, but my brother and I are choosing which combos. I get first pick.

I thought you had both and wanted to give up one of them. Really, I'm still confused by both messages.

Whenever you mention gaming, AMD has the edge. Whenever you mention multitasking, Intel has the edge, only in single core though, in dual-core, AMD rules.

Thanks for the advice guys. Now I have to construct my Brother's Intel setup.
I've put AS5 on 478's and 939's, but this LGA775 is a whole different ball game with this huge monster of a finned Intel heatsink and Prescott's infamous room heating abilities.
My method was placing two rice grain-sized blobs on the center core of the 478's and 939's, but what do I do with this LGA775? Even spread with credit card or blob in center?
I don't want to ruin my $200 investment!

Yeah right, were you comparing 2 different chipsets and 2 different ram models and 2 different hard drive models too? LMAO. This article proves contrary to your statement. Unless a comparison is done with the exact same hardware surrounding the tested device, the results will be biased.

when i applied as5 in my pressHOT, i spread it over the whole thing. Make sure you get a decent cpu heatsink/fan cause the one that comes with it is utter crap and fscking loud, i put in a Zalman CNPS7700-Cu a few weeks ago and its a world of a difference, well worth the investment. but in my case the cpu temps were in the 80s all the time and the cpu fan would be going full speed 24/7, dunno how i lived with it for a year, i guess i was just lazy and didnt change it right away lool

And may I ask what is this article is supposed to prove? From personal experience, computers that I have built, the A64 systems with same specs as a Pentium have performed better.

I've been saying this for ages. I can't imagine how people with stock Intel HSFs deal with the noise.
If you're worried about screwing up your precious :), might as well use Intel's stock HSF & thermal gease/paste.
