I am looking at a used Thinkpad laptop and the warranty look-up with serial reveals that it has warranty until March 2006. It says from USA

This product has a three year limited warranty and is entitled to IBM EZServ service. Customers may call their local service center for more information. Dealers may provide carry-in repair for this product. Batteries have a one year warranty.

So my question is, is it possible to get warranty without receipt?

It is an thinkpad X30 BTW.

Thanks

AFAIK, yes, it's possible. The warranty follows the machine, rather than the receipt or the original buyer.

Do you know IBMs dead pixel policy? I have 2 dead pixels on the one that I am looking for.

Thanks

i think their dead pixel warranty policy is about 5 or something
cant remember since i last got my LCD screen replaced under warranty

call their tech support and ask

and yeah, the warranty of thinkpads are in a big database at IBM's tech support
just tell them the serial number and they can find out how much time left on the warranty

last time i talked to an ibm tech, he said the warranty was only for the first owner.. but then again, he was an iSeries(as/400) repair guy, not a thinkpad repairer.
