No it wont fix the problem.
Same with those posters that say "Get an Apple computer"
Switching to a less known plataform will just leave it temporarily safe, and as soon as people start writing malicious code to those browsers too, what are you going to do ? switch again to Bozofox ? Megazilla ? Tanzanilla Browser 10.8 ?

OK Google these program up since I don't remember the URL off the top of my head
1st is download Hijack This v. 1.9 something
Then download Vundo
Run Hijack This and save a log and pay attention to something that said WinLogon...make a note of that .dll file
Run Vundo in Windows safe mode and follow the instructions there
If nothing works, then Google is your best friend, you could tell i'm tired LOL

got the exact same problem, ran adaware 2-3 times, can't find it.
Probably going to try canabiz's suggestion sometime soon.
edit: comes in IE, nothing to do to which browser, it just spontaneously comes, crashed my pc a couple times as well.

That thing is f'in horrible! When I got it, mcafee, spybot, microsoft antispyware and so on couldn't find it. I think the latest update of MS antispyware beta could remove it now though. Definitely google it and wade though to find the fix. You can see it in MS Antispyware as a BHO in the advaced tools - at the time it just couldn't be deleted though .I used hijack this to create a log and search out the offender and then used VundoFix to delete it. Look for pmnll.dll - that's probably the cause but definitely ask around before doing the full meal deal delete and clean up as it could butcher your system if done incorrectly - have a look at this link

Switch to chizel and stone tablets. Sure it's tedious and laborous to write to your relatives, but iron clad safe from spam.
BTW< I get it too. I get it from a particular torrent site ... hint spy vs spy.

I've emailed the admin but he hasn't done't much; not to mention totally ignoring my email.
Anyways, I visit that site more for the news and responding to idiots like bishop99 who spam constantly about PS3. I vent my frustration there without feeling the wrath of the admins. Haven't yet, at least.
:D
EDIT: Yay!

We've recently become aware of the Winfixer ad that has been appearing on the site. Please know that we're working on removing this advertiser from our rotation; however, this can be a difficult task due to the amount of ads running in rotation with different ad companies.
Update: It looks like we have gotten rid of the Winfixer ad. Please let us know if you see it again.

I think It's connected to the banners on the site actually. I noticed it the other day on IRCSPY.COM, when I adblocked the two top banners, the message wouldn't show up anymore. Might work on similar sites
