I started playing this game again recently and I almost forgot how frustrating this game is. It's the only game I ever yell at, throw my controller in a rage.

I'm stuck on chapter 5 (stop laughing), near the end. The guys giving me the most problems are those ****in ninjas that come out in packs of 3 and start throwing smoke bombs and ****. This game needs more save points cuz its not fun playing through the same 10 minutes of crap only to be killed cheaply by some crazy **** u dont even see. Worst part is I'm not stocked up on healing potions and I'm pretty sure you need lots to get past this part of the game.

I'm on the checkpoint where I killed the 3 ADD ninjas, waste a healing potion, save, then re-load later only to find those bastards back again! Same things happens if you run out of an area and go back, you have to kill them again! I guess the same designers wanted to add some challenge to this easy game! ****ers.

So I finnaly get passed everything, face those stupid 3 dragons, barely kill them, then I get a nice cutscene. I'm like fuk yea! I finnaly did it. Then out comes another boss to kill! wtf! One hit and I was done!

Yea those ninja's were crazy tough to beat, but just keep using the slashing move. I beleive its liek "jump towards them" and press Y with the Dragon Sword, or use the Vigoorian Flails (dont know if you have it by then), and the move will still work. The key is to never stop jumping, even if you're not really doing anything, keep jumping around and use the slash attack, block every now and then as well, and keep dodging the bombs they throw. Use the move where you jump off the wall and come down with a big slash, that helps a lot too.

Yea what I made sure was that I try to stay as close to maxed out on potions as I can....its a lifesaver.

CHEAP HINT: Just run and jump past the ninjas if you dont want to fight them. You dont have to stop, just run past them to the door and open the door. You might take a hit or two in the process, but it'll probably be less damage than actually fighting them :) But yea I did that a few times in the levels where you have to sorta figure out the right way to go and i was sick of fighting the same guys.

LOL about the boss part. You gotta love that about the game. But to be honest, he's the easiest boss in the game. They'res a really good and quick and easy strategy to beat him. If you dont want the spoiler don't read below.

Use the dragon sword, and continuously just use that Jump + Y slashing move. He'll basically cut through him and do damage and land on the other side. Sometimes he'll just sorta bounce off but just keep jumping and doing this regardless. As you do that, his tentacles get sliced off. After they slice off, the yellow orb/money stuff (i forgot what its called), there'll be two of them, one from each of the tentacles. Hold Y to absorb both and do your super move thingy on him......then keep running around until his tentacles grow back, and repeat the process. Its really simple once you do it. And oh there's a realllllly hot cutscence with Rachel all covered in goo. =) enjoy.

I got stuck at Chapter 3 at the boss fight (on top of the blimp). I was so fustrated that I walked away from the game for a month. I didn't bother reading how to do certain combo's and moves because I underestimated the difficulty of the game. After I looked through the combo's and controls of the game it was obvious that was the reason why I was having so much difficulty.

But still, it was so satisfying when I beat the game!

Awesome game, but they make the first boss so hard for new players, I'm not sure why they did that...

After that, I didn't have too much trouble with the game. I'm usually pretty good at this sort of game though.

I don't believe its so much that the boss was hard, its more that at that stage the player isn't familiiar enough with the controls and moves to actually beat the boss. I dont think the first level itself gave enough practice of the moves/combo's to really pickup the skillset. But yea I can see what you mean, the first boss took me about 16 times to beat =\

I was playing this last night and just got to the 5th Chapter. Yeah, those ninjas with exploding shuriken are damned annoying. This is one of those games that forces you to replay sections over and over until you get good enough at the game to master certain enemies.

One thing I hate is how certain enemies respawn. That is just cheap. Those damn ninjas are like that.

This is frustrating and not for all tastes, and makes a long game seem so much longer. But the game is intense and keeps me coming back for more. I doubt I'll be able to beat it but I'll see how far I can get. When my thumbs get shot I'll head back to my RPGs. :cheesygri

i played again yesterday and for some reason i beat chapter 5 in only like 4 more tries. It seemed much easier. I don't know, when your getting your ass handed to you in ninja gaiden, just shut it off and try it again the next day.
im sure i will have more fits of rage before its done, but its damn fun kicking ass ninja style, so ill keep playing.

ninja gaiden is extremely annoying, i'll agree with that

tecmo and team ninja must think everyone who picks up a video game is a nerd who plays games all day long

I don't appreciate having to face bosses like 8 times just to beat them.

I agree its way too difficult, and I'm glad that game got pirated like a mofo

Ninja Gaiden Black is also a total scam to anyone whos already played Ninja Gaiden

Also, WTF is up with the lack of health?

I much prefer MORTAL KOMBAT: SHAOLIN MONKS, and it has very similar gameplay!

I suggest you check it out

I hear you man.

This game drove me crazy. The horrible camera angles and gameplay just killed the game for me.

I was never able to get into the game. I hate games like these that are difficult for stupid reasons.

I got myself a downloadable walkthrough and I find it makes the game more enjoyable when I get stuck.

I can understand why some hate this game, it's frustrated me a lot too. It's definitely a 'try before you buy' game. And Ninja Gaiden black is completely unnecessary if you have the original game and free hurricane updates. These updates fix quite a few camera bugs in the game as originally released.

Ninja Gaiden black just includes the original game, 2 freely dowloadable (through Live) hurricane pack updates, NG Arcade Game and around 45 new 'missions,' involving scenarios with well known enemies. As far as I'm concerned all this content should have been freely downloadable through Live to those owning the original game. But the only way to get the 45 new scenarios and arcade game are to buy black. Thanks but no thanks.

OH, black includes an easier 'Ninja Dog' difficulty (again, this should have been freely downloadable) and 2 harder difficulties (why anyone would want the latter, I have no idea.)

That game is such a shame. Fun mechanics and gameplay but after awhile I realized I just don't have the patience for a game you need to master to enjoy. Although that was back in the barebones version, maybe I should give it a try with the updates.

Can't say that I agree with not wanting to face bosses like 8 times just to beat them....yes I know its an opinion...

But if I were to go through a game without dying at least once, I don't think I'd find it as satisfying as I would to play a game where I know I overcame the difficulty. To be honest, I dont find Ninja Gaiden a game you need to "master".....and I am in NO means anything remotely close to being great at video games, I dont play them. I only bought my xbox back in December 2004. I think if you really tough it out for the first 2-3 levels, the rest of the game will be at a "moderate difficulty" which you'd experience in normal games. And if you really get stuck, do what the above poster said and just check a walkthrough for just that one part.

For those of you who started and gave up on it, I'd recommend you try it again, it does get easier after you stop playing, and then come back to it =)

jimbojones, keep us updated about your frustrations through the game, I love hearing all the crap I went through playing the game =). Chapter 15 will be one of the worst gaming experiences ever

Also, WTF is up with the lack of health?

It does suck that you don't get more, but you have to remember to shell out $$ for potions all the time. As well you can absorb energy from others when you kill them to give you life. It eventually gets easier to deal with life, but yea you definitely need lots of potions.

for all the people angry about Ninja Gaiden:Black, it was mostly released to get the hurricane packs/updates(if there were any?) to people who don't have live ;)

This is a cool idea, the problem is they are charging $40 for it at retail stores. So someone who bought the original game at $60 and doesn't have live is gonna have to pay another $40 for these updates, bringing the total cost paid for the game to $100 before tax? Not cool. The new features it adds to the game aren't worth $40 IMHO.
