Is it safe to ebay on a public computer?

i want to bid towards the end of the sale but i am still in school at that time, is it safe to just bid with my ebay account?

it should be okay so long as you go and clear out the cookies and clear the history of sites viewed.

I do this all the time at work.

remember to log out after your session.

Ok, maybe I'm exagerating, but if you simply log out, you should be ok. I've done personal, online banking from a public computer and it's fine, although there are more precautions involved in online banks.

Well chances are low, but in hindsight it would be pretty easy to install one on a public PC and get it to forward everything to an email account. I must admit curiosity took the better of me one day and I played around with one on my home PC. Those things are virtually undetectable and anti spyware software doesn't pick them out either.

Proxy bid before you go to school on your home computer..If you still feel unsafe about it.

I agree, especially if your school requires you to log in to use computers.

Netcafes are only good for checking the news or e-mail accounts that you don't mind getting stolen.

last year 50% of the computers had keyloggers :lol:

I heard alot of schools (well my school), have something called, I think it's Deep Freeze. Which erases any alterations to c: drive, so if cookies go there, it'll get erased, well atleast at my school. Otherwise, make sure no ones looking at you while typing.

yeah my school has that as well. no more installing games in the labs and playing them during lectures.

anything saved on the c drive gets wiped at a set time or when the computer is shut down . at my school is 11 everything gets wiped . but if u log into a site and then log off and go back to log in on the same computer the cookies are clears for u .


schools like colleges \uni's i wouldnt worry about it too much just make sure to log out and clear cookies .

Forget keyloggers, people at my school used to install remote desktop type software on the systems. It was cruel, but folks would monitor someone else's computer use, take control of the mouse, eject the CD tray, close windows, type things, all from the next lab over.
