any ideas where to buy gas furnace by itself?

As the title says,
I'm looking to buy a gas furnace by itself i can deal with the istallation myself. I have looked online and the only places i can find who sells them are located in the states.

Anyone know of any places in the GTA area i can pick one up? i'm looking for a good high efficiency one

Contact the manufacturer that you want to buy from. They should be able to tell you their distributors.

I am pretty sure York for example sells certain of their units directly to contractors.. No reason why they shouldn't sell to you. They have a warehouse in Oakville. (I know it is the case for industrial/commercial units)

Perhaps not a lot of help but the way I did it 6 years ago was just to phone around ... I found most of the pure "heating" companies wouldn't do it but some of the plumbing and plumbing supply wholesalers would ...

Good luck, after doing a TON of home renovations, I found that the markup on Central Heating (both supply and installation) is just brutal.

a) I purchased a 93% (or whatever) Rheem furnace for around $1200 and installed it myself.
b) One of my best friends had his furnace die in the middle of the winter before I did mine ... He paid around $2300 to get a mid effeciency installed
c) A few months after I did mine, another friend had his furnace done by a business associate in the plumbing and heating sector; total was less than $400 total, just the cost of the mid effeciency furnace.

While I understand that there may have been diffences in product quality and one friend had the pay the winter emergency penalty price, there is a lot of markup in what I see above.

he is helping me install it, if i can find the furnace

he is also the one who told me about the crazy mark ups in furnaces
apparently the standard practice in getting a price for a consumer is to take the cost of the furnace, then drouble it, then double that to get the furnace installed. so a $600 furnace suddenly costs you $2400.

When I did my furnace here in BC, you didn't beed to be a gas fitter to install it. you just had to have it inspected ... It really isn't that hard to make a couple of gas connections.

A lot of suppliers won't sell you unless you're certified to do the work because there's too much liability attached.

Once the work is done (regardless of who does it) a certified gas fitter has to inspect it and so does the gas company.
