was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction...just picked up a canon sd200 because i got a great deal on it but i realized a couple of things i need...

- i need a camera that can charge via usb - i am going overseas and will not be able to charge my camera using their outlets...unless i buy an adapter but if i can charge via usb, i would prefer to do so...

- in video mode, i would like to be able to zoom in and out while recording...this is a feature that is not found in my sd200, and i dont believe its available with the sd300 either

i am somewhat price sensitive...dont want to spend more than $400 on it and would like something compact (anything like the sony t1/canon sd300/nikon coolpix s1 sort of size) and would prefer sd memory although i am picking up a belkin media reader which so i wouldnt mind picking up a sony...thanks in advance...

AFAIK, no camera exists to fit those features
If there's one, keep us updated

1. Charge-through-USB?? Maybe when Apple releases a iCamera like their iPod? Get rechargeable AA batteries with a AA-camera?

2. Change zoom during video? It might be possible now since I'm sure it's standard on DV Camcorders while not necessarily on digicams. I'm happy with my SD200 though (selling 1 now, SD cards too, ha ha)

Nothing yet, tho I heard the Canon S2 might do that.

Also, Felpot can you PM me if you get this, thanks.

For travelling, best to buy a 2nd or 3rd battery. Or get a camera that uses rechargable AA batteries. Then you can buy a set of 4 or 8 for about $20 Cdn, get at least 2300 mAh ones. Then those will last you well over 1500 photos, depending on how battery hungry your camera is.

I suggest Sony's new AA using cameras that lasts well over 500 shots on one pair of AA.

The only digital cameras you can zoom while recording video is where the zoom is manually controlled. Meaning the ones where your hand turns the lens to zoom it. Namely: Sony 828. THat video mode ain't bad either, 30 frames/sec, 640x320 I believe.
