Series premier for new show "Invasion" was on last night.
Anyone watch it?
Since it was on after LOST, I watched it.
It was interesting, but not excellent. Reminded me of War of the Worlds with a healthy dose of X-Files. Will probably keep watching it unless it goes really crappy or gets canned...

It's Fox. If it actually manages to survive through an entire season, I'll watch it on reruns in the summer.

Just ok, nothing special. Next week preview didn't want me to watch more.

okay you beat me! to posting this thread. ;)
saw it, a bit like war of the worlds and invasion of the body snatchers.
I felt the premiere could have been a bit stronger. I didn't like the characters that much. I didn't like the tension between the two ex's and the tension between the cop and the science/climate guy.
the preview didn't look to strong either, but since it is after LOST i might stick around next week

I was surprised there was no thread on this.... I was just searching for it when up it popped.....
I was very disappointed with the opener. I was looking forward to this more than any new show...
IMO it is badly acted, badly written, crappy special effects, and waaaay too slow in developing.
The only good part was what we saw in the ads: "Mommy you smell different"
I'll give it another chance but if something competes with it, I will be switching channels....

nah the swamp scenes were the best.
fist when the skull appeared, and then second when the uncle (fat guy) got swallowed up.
the other good scene was when they were showing the dead skeleton in the trunk.

agreed those scenes were good. not often that a tv show takes place in that particular area, although plenty of movies do.

2nd episode was just as boring. I didn't even bother coming back for the last few minutes after the final commercial break.
I hate the sherrif character. The doctor wife seem like a cold b!tch
and why is everyone so cozy with each other?
the scientist's ex wife is married to the sherrif whose daugher hangs around the reporter who is the scientists wife who is the sister of the accident dude who found the skeleton who hangs around the scientist. And all the kids from both marraiges hang around each other.
Just understanding that is confusion enough.

I thought Invasion looked dumb...the ads on CTV seemed interesting enough..i watched for a bit and it was too blah.

the series premiere was a turn off...I didn't enjoy watching it and the characters seemed so cardboardish. I only watched it cuz Kari Matchett from Power Play was on it.

I think I will stop following the show
although I'm still interested to know what happened. Maybe I'll just read TV.com episode list/guide?

Now that I've watched Surface, Threshold, and Invasion...
I think Invasion is actually the best of the 3!
Surface is like Invasion, but much slower, and has too many convoluted story-lines.
Threshold has some celebrity actors, but is already suffering from the "Brannon Braga effect" - weak characterization, silly plot, and the usual gimmicks which screwed all the post-TNG Star Treks.
Invasion, while not that good, is actually better than the other 2 alien shows.

I hate Braga for that sham of an series finale for Enterprise. I'd never watch Threshold even if he paid me.

What is the relation between that fat guy who is the sister of that reporter, to the blonde doctor and her exhusband?
I saw that ctv brief commercial with the blonde lady and the weird looking husband on that series and wow, she looked cold and calculating.

the sheriff dude looks creepy and I think he and kari matchett's characters have been possessed by those little alien thingys.

does anybody still watch this? CTV bills it as the new no. 1 show so I was curious

i watched episode 2 and then i never saw the third one cuz 1 and 2 were really boring.
Anessa
Oct 9th, 2005, 11:59 PM
the third one has some alien thing attacking the ranger's kid and his blond mommy doctor screws up in the ER. i think she's an alien who likes water or needs it to survive. invasion has sorta peaked my interest

This show was horrible
I was looking forward to it, and watched it after LOST like everyone else, but quickly realised that these so-called Aliens that are 'invading' are nowhere to be found, and instead resulted in one of the most boring shows I've ever seen in my life.. Just for fun I tuned in really quickly before lost last week, which meant it must be on episode 3, and apparently STILL nothing has happened.. People on IRC also thought it was crap when I was asking them about it, but to each their own i guess.. 2/10 for this show

out of the alien invasion shows, Invasion has my vote as the best but I don;t rate it very highly...5/10 and falling.

I seriously think the sheriff dude is an alien because of his creepy behavior with the man who had the Asian Flu. and did Kyra have sex with that dude? I guess it was implied like Smallville.

its actually pretty good dispite what most of you think, and really Lost? i like the show and watch it too but we still havent seen the "monster" or know whats going on in the island and the season finale was the biggest waste of time... still kinda like it though... in conclusion Invasion is pretty good
maybe they dont show the aliens but they did in War of the Worlds and that turned out to be just plain horrible

the alien is a glowing thing that either assimilates people or kills...depending on its mood? lol

invasion is ok... 6/10.
i liked war of the worlds. i like Lost a lot. all these shows are similar to each other, being in the same genre and same "maturity level".
better than that crappy Brannon Braga show with Data, which i put on the same maturity level as Power Rangers :P

Somehow all of the channels that this crappy show is on are praising it though.. Are we the only people that thinks it sucks? Is this show actually doing well in the USA or something? CTV bases half of its ads around it..

they do that because they need to prop up its sagging ratings so those who haven't seenthe show or have seen only a tiny bit of it will watch it and wathc more of it.

I watch both Surface and Invasion every week. I am leaning more towards like Invasion more, however Surface is starting to get a bit interesting. Both are moving fairly slow, but I like em. I don't watch much TV at all, but I like both of these shows enough to watch every week.
You really can't take them too seriously though. It's pure entertainment.

well another disappointing episode this week...this week pretty much everything was made to cancel out everything in the past 8 episodes.
since no one is watching it...i can use spoilers.
waste of time side plots that have nothing to f'ing do with the main story.
who cares about the pot grower
who cares about him killing his uncle

yah after 8 episodes, the last 3 of which i feel asleep for the most part, i have given up on Invasion. 8 hours of tv and roughly 3 minutes of plot. omg, what a horrendous show
i can't believe Threshold got cancelled and Invasion is still on the air. i mean Threshold is pretty much a paint by numbers sci fi, but at least it was half interesting, with decent action and dialogue.
all Invasion has is some moody music, lots of ppl walking around in a daze and... is it a fish? is it a squid? is it an EBE?

I love this show. I can't believe all the people saying "Oh it's so slow, where's the action, boring... etc"
Would you rather have Arnold Schwartenegger plow into town in a tank, and start blowing the aliens out of the water or something? Geez, people these days have attention spans that are far too short, and can't watch a show that doesn't explain everything right out flat for them in one episode, then cuts to explosions and killing.
I LIKE watching this show because it's NOT cutting to the chase. I am enjoying the slow progress of the mystery and have faith that it will soon evolve into something extremely interesting (not that it isn't already interesting). The show is a drama, not an action flick.

well 8 episodes of nothing is pretty tiring. the plot isn't just slow, it's stopped. i can't think of a single thing that has changed since the first episode.
the fat guy still thinks it's aliens
the main guy still thinks it's fish
the reporter chick still wants a story
the doctor is still clueless
the sheriff is still shady
the kids are still filler

There are SPOILERS here if you haven't seen episode 9 yet, but none of you would care anyway cause you all hate the show :cheesygri

the fat guy still thinks it's aliens - Well of course he does, he's a psyco conspiracy freak. But he's also making progress with his research, especially with his newfound friendship and conversations with the doctor, and also his infiltration into the secret church meetings.
the main guy still thinks it's fish - as of the latest episode, He's found a piece of the "alien" inside a dead gator. Got burned by the acid covering it, and did DNA tests to find out it is unlike anything ever found and also contains human DNA (which is where the episode ends.. to be continued)
the reporter chick still wants a story - And every episode, she gets more and more of that story.
the doctor is still clueless - Every episode she finds something new and strange, most recently her own dead body in the water.
the sheriff is still shady - However it is revealed that he isn't exactly completely in charge of the whole thing... there are still some things that continue to surprise him.. he made be able to cover it up, but he doesn't know EVERYTHING.
the kids are still filler - Luckily, the latest episode had NO sign of the kids at all. But they aren't filler anyway, they serve as a physical emodiment of the Doctor's past. The more she changes, the more she drifts away from the kids (her past).
Honestly guys, the show isn't at a standstill... ever episode reveals at least one new interesting development. I'm glad we aren't shoved all the facts in our face, and they we have no idea what the "alien" is yet.
