installing it now, will post about it tmrw.

from the benchmarks @ amdzone though, it looks like X800's will struggle with it... especially my crappy 12-pipe one :-0

Basically just a playable tech demo. Looks good, but basically kind of a waste of space/time.

Ran OK with everything cranked (4xAA, 16xAF, HDR Full) @ 1280x1024... Wide open areas like the start were pretty low fps, but otherwise framerates weren't bad.

10 months of hype for 20 minutes of playtime! Only Valve can do something like that ;)

It looks a bit nicer than Fear and performance is better too. ran "ok" at 1024x768, 2xAA 4xAF, HDR on. i can tell the framerate was dipping at a number of scenes, but i believe it stayed above 35fps.

Apart from the HDR effects and "nice scenery" (an island with a church on top... oooh spoiler! lol) this is a map that any good Source modder could have come up with...

Even with HDR effects, you can tell this Source engine is going to get it's ass kicked by the engines that come out next year... FarCry 2, UT2006, etc. :-0

did you see the "tech demo" of Crysoft's FarCry2 engine... "The Island" or something? That was from about 6-8 mo. ago and it's already better looking than HL2 Lost Coast....
