It's a better deal if you don't mind how it looks. I'm not crazy about the print-your-own-cover idea, and the keys don't look that usable either.

Anyone know what kind of a plan you have to sign up for?? This is not a pay as you go kind of deal, is it? You must have to activate it on a one year term or longer?

this is pay and talk, it includes activation kit inside the box
no contract necessary.

now can somebody please answer my question? Can I still checkout the item for $89.99 and they will ship when they have stocks?

It looks like it. I can't remember if I've done that through Best Buy, but I sure have from Future Shop. If you can't order it, it will say "Sorry, blah blah blah." This one says it will ship when available, so it should be aok.

I've been looking at this phone for a while - my partner is bad with phones, but has never managed to kill a Nokia one, so I'm tempted. I'm also broke, so.... :)

I have this phone, got it through Telus for free on their 3 year upgrade plan.
The keys are hard to get use to, but once you are familar, it's ok. The blue design is replaceable with a green or red one that comes with the phone and they provide software and 2 blanks to make your own design.
The phone is great because there were a couple of features I wanted that were too expensive to get on other phones like speakerphone and it's pretty decent. Other features, include, FM radio- must use earphone, LED flashlight, video and digital camera. You need to get an IR adapter or a cable to transfer onto your computer or else you have to spend some money to send it via phone to another phone or your email address.

I just picked up this deal at BB and the phone is nice I believe its the cheapest one out there with a a camera and has 2 led lights that act as a flashlight ! and as I want to go to pay and talk as I dont use all my minutes with fido I would rather top up at 25 each month then pay 40.00 on my 200 min package.

I got this phone with $ 75 credit when activated online, but I paid $ 99 for it at a Telus booth, and the sales rep there said that's the only one they have and they don't usually carry these inventory since there is no money/commission to the rep nor the company....

Anyways, I like the phone ok, love the fact that before the 60 days expiration, I can just top up with min. $ 10 card which will still give me the 25 cent / min rate instead of the 40 cent....now I have a new phone that takes pictures and video, caller ID, voice mail, call waiting etc...NO stupid system access fee .....just $ 10 a month...for someone who stuck in the office 10 hrs a day, this is perfect....

The only drawback I notice is that I fully charged the battery for like 24 hrs before I use it , now I have been using the phone for TWO days now, with the phone OFF at night, now I only have one slot on the battery indicator left...I thought it suppose to last a few days... ?? Any idea ?? I do notice the signal is pretty weak at my desk in the office.....does it effect the battery life.. ??

I find the phone hideous... You can get a refurb LG3200 from Staples with the $50 startkit for $99.99. That's a much better looking phone, it looks and feels pretty sturdy.

I find my battery last about 5 days if I don't use it at all, but still have it on standby. Once I start using it, it last a couple of days, but can talk for a few hours with no problems.

I think the phone is sturdy in that the whole thing is encased in this plastic. You can't scratch the screen even. I don't need a carrying case for it.

thanks for the reply...I guess the camera eats up a lot of battery too...well..I just need to know the time it last , if it does last only 2 days , I need to know to charge the battery...anyways...can't get a cheap camera phone than this at $ 25.00 ...or guys got at Bestbuy would $ 15.00...

Hey I'm looking for the cheapest possible solution for an emergency cell phone, maybe some text messages, as I don't need one to gab but only at those desperate times where it's like I really need to call!

What's the cheapest phone and plan I can get. Is it possible to buy phones alone and then get cheap prepaid? Anyone know of any good refurbished or used cell online stores or in the Manitoba region.

Thanks a lot,
Maciej

imo telus has the best pay as you go package since you get free airtime after 6pm and the time cards stack with each other ....if you don't talk all that much during the day 10$ time card + free after 6 and text messeging that's really good compare to pay as you go offers from fido and rogers

telus prepaid is very expensive.

for that 10$ card you mentioned above cost 40¢/minute!!!

and free evening doesn't come free either.
I think it costs like 25$ for 1000min evenings and weekends after 9pm

In that case I think your best bet is Virgin mobile because they allow 120 day cards. So you don't have to spend as much to keep it active.

With Telus, and most other's your minimum per month will be $10 + tax (just to keep your existing time from expiring on a montly basis).

I'd like to see someone get that one for that price. Any refurbs that cheap ($180 phone) are gone the same day they get any in stock. I believe that particular offer mentioned 4 per store in the flyer. London Drugs had it last week, but again with very limited quantities. As well, if it doesn't work, you can't get a replacement, you have to start over with a new model.

But don't mind me, I'm $#@#ed with Telus right now. I ended up with a dead refurb that wouldn't program - Telus cancelled my account and credits, and wants me to PAY them to activate another handset. Um, gee, maybe I'll try the new PC Mobile Prepaid that only costs 20 cents a minute.

Do you have to activate the $50 card right away in the store? I am still with Bell and don't want to switch to Telus for another month or 2 so I can use up my Bell prepaid $ first.

How does the extra $25 credit work? When you activated your phone on-line, I assume that you will have to use the $50 card first to get the 25 cent/min rate, then 1) Telus will give you $75 worth to be used in 60 days? Or
2) you will get $25 card to be used AFTER your first 60-day $50 card expired? I would buy the phone if 2) is the answer.

Thanks

no, you can activate your pay and talk anytime online or by telephone
but the only way you can get the $25 bonus is by doing it online
and when you do that you will get $75 inside your phone for 60 days initially.
dont confuse yourself too much.

Good deal since the $75 credit Pay and Talk credit ($50 credit + extra $25 if you activate the phone online) makes the phone practically free....

HOWEVER, the keypad takes time to get used to, my friend has it and I could barely dial my own number!

The Nokia 3205 might be a "funky" phone, but for most people, an Audiovox 8300 might be as good or better (normal keypad, etc.). Without any regard to comparing phone features, etc., the following might be a better deal from FS:

Telus Audiovox 8300 Cellular Phone with P&T Starter Kit (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10061030&logon=&langid=EN) for $59.99.

Yes, this is a refurbished phone, but considering a P&T Starter Kit retails for $65+tax, it's like a free phone and a discount on the kit! And as mentioned before, if you activate online, you'll get a total of $75 airtime credit, good for 60 days (can be carried over if topped up before it reaches $0). That's 300 minutes...
