well, remember last time (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194416) BB had the 3-day online only sale for the vakoss dvd+/-r 25pks that they couldn't sell for $8 a piece and then they decided to drop it down to $5 a piece to clear stock? ;)
well, it seems like BB now wants to clear the 100pk stock of vakoss dvds...
BB ($20): Vakoss 100-Pack 8X 4.7GB DVD+R (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10047957&catid=20032)

and i think this started on Friday ... that's y the -Rs are OOS.... +Rs still instock tho!
btw, i think this is an "unadvertised" deal b/c it wasn't shown on BB's labour day sale flyer...
and according to the thread above, these are MIT and they're either PRODISCS or OPTODISCS, FYI.
and the price works out to be the same as last time BB had the 25pks on sale: $20/100pk = $0.20/disc. :)
good deal if u don't mind it being MIT and/or prodisc/optodisc media codes...

Good price if they're any good. Prodiscs aren't great, but I've seen worse.

Aw damn! These ones seem to be better than the RITEKG05 Maxell ones according to http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm if they're PRODISC media codes! Can't return the Maxells either :(

I was in a Staples yesterday and they had some Vakoss 10, 50, and 100 packs on the shelves. I'm no longer certain whether I was looking at + or - media but based on the hub markings none of them looked like Prodisc media but likely more like Optodisc. I did order some of the 25 packs of Vakoss (+ and -) on Thursday as well as one of these + 100 packs from BB tonight so when I receive them I will report what they turn out to be.

They have Vakoss at Staples?

They had it at the downtown Montreal Bureau en Gros store on Notre Dame so I suspect that other Staples stores do carry Vakoss. It doesn't seem to be on their website, however.
I seem to recall the 100 pack was selling for $40 or so. I suppose it you're lucky you can pricematch at Staples and save $2. It's too bad that the 150% policy isn't still in effect or else you might have ended up walking out with 100 discs for about $10.

i can CONFIRM that... :D
i went into stooples Aug31st for some last minute PMs  :D :cheesygri  and quite surprisingly i found that stooples started carrying VAKOSS dvd media?????? (btw, i only saw'em in 10's and 50's... didn't see any 100's)
w-o-w...
however, stooples seem to have a diff. kind of "pkging"... it was a white one... whereas BB had some "other" kind of black pkging (shown in links above)... but stooples vakoss dvds were 8X tho... so yes PMs were possible....
of course, it'd be better if we knew about this sooner since we could've done a 150% PM and gotten 'em for cheap!
too bad we can only save that lil insigificant $2-3 now.... :|
...*sigh*....150%PM... *sigh*...

well, stooples NEVER seems to have their website updated... :| (just like FS/BB)
the best example i can think of is the new sony dvd burners (800A, 800UL) .... when FS/BB started selling'em, stooples had'em instore alright... but LITERALLY, i don't think it showed up online for some 2 mths (or more) !!!

that's really hard to say.....
i'd think its YMMV depending on which CSR/MOD serves u ....
i have heard that some RFDers were "successful" in returning/refunding used blank media (part of spindle) b/c of "too many coasters"
and FYI, if u ever buy blank media from RS (a.k.a. TS), don't even TRY to return/refund used blank media... they'll reject u w/o a doubt.
btw, both are OOS online now....
any1 else still interested will have to either wait for a restock or go instore BB B&M to get it...

well, i'm not too sure about comparison between memorex vs. vakoos b/c i have yet to burn a vakoss dvd and very lil memorex.... but they're both MIT media.
as mentioned b4, vakoss are either prodiscs/optodiscs and memorex are usually riteks....

Just came back from BB at Laird/Eglinton. They have about 100 packs of dvd+r and -r near the front cash. I've had good success burning ProDisc dvd-r with an Nec burner.
This same location also has about four 100 pack MIJ Maxell dvd+r for $29.99. I assume they are MIJ since they don't have the white MIT stick on top and there is no writing on the centre ring of the disc.

These disks aren't of high quality anyways. -R's are prodisc, and +R's are either prodisc or optodiscs. I'd say, get whatever you usually get.

Just came back from BB at Scarborough Town Centre and I think the -R are all gone. I picked up the last 2 but there's still over 10 100pack spindles of +R if anyone's interested.
I have used them before and find no fault in them. So far, great blank dvds and now even better because of the price.

Could you confirm what media code the 100packs from BB have? I haven't received mine yet even though it's supposedly been out for delivery since 9AM this morning. My 25 packs of + and - were both Prodisc.

I just got my 25 pack of DVD-R and 25 pack of DVD+R.
I've noticed that the DVD+R don't burn as well as the DVD-R. So far I've burned about 3 or each type and one DVD+R burned fine but has many read errors on my XBOX, making it virtually unplayable. The other DVD+R burned fine but has read errors on my XBOX but works fine on my LG writer, yet has problems reading on my Benq 1620.
All the DVD-R burned fine with no read errors. I also noticed that my NEC 3540 can burn the DVD+R at 12X but I have not tried at this speed yet.
Any comments?

The 25 packs are both prodisc, I believe prodiscf01 for the DVD-R and prodisc.r03 for the DVD+R's

I've got two BenQ DW1620's and bought the +R's. Were you able to burn them successfully with the 1620?

I'll answer my own question since I wasn't asking about the 25 packs (which I already stated were Prodiscs) but the 100 packs. In any case the postman just left and the 100 pack of DVD+R's that I received was also PRODISC-R03-03

Ran the BenQ QScan on the DVD+R's and DVD-R's. Both types are okay. I did notice that the DVD+R's have a higher TE/FE errors on the outer tracks. Both can burn at 12X. I'll try burning a couple of each type tonight.
