Just curious if anyone out there knows what the penalties are if you don't notify the Ministry of Transportation when you changed your address or name within six days. Do they takeaway your licence? Do they fine you some $ amount? Send you to jail for a few days?

BTW this info is from their website http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/change.htm

Changing your address (no charge)
If you move, under the Highway Traffic Act, you must notify the ministry within six days of changing your residential address.

Changing your name (no charge)
You must notify the ministry within six days of changing your name.

The Highway Traffic Act is here: http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/90h08_e.htm

I just can't find any info about it though.

What will happen is a cop will pull you over, and if he decides to be a dick he can write you a ticket for it. There not sending you to jail, and its not anything that can affect your insurance. Just a $130 ticket you can probably get off with in court if you proove you have indeed updated your license.

However, not having the current adress could make the document considered "invalid", just drop by the ministry and tell them your new adress. I dont even think they charge you for an updated license...
