Good day: A friend of mine Bought a 250Gig HDD Western digital & he tried to Installed on an old Compaq P4 Intel 1.8 GHZ
He told me that he used the WinXP Home Edition (from Compaq) to setup & format that 250Gig HDD & when he was Finished 2 hours later he got NTLDR missing or Corrupted during Bootup
I was wondering If he Should Use the Data life CD which Comes with his Hard drive instead of Using the WinXP HE from Compaq
On the other hand I do not Know if his Computer Bios Will be able to detect all the Capacity of that HDD without doing a Flash..
any Suggestions
Many thanks...

is this hard drive still connected?
they should update the bios first, as support for a drive that big should be present with the motherboard.

As for Windows, if it is a Pre SP1, it probably won't see the full size of that drive.

they could also try a fixboot and fixmbr from the recovery console.
