hey guys, i need new RAM for my laptop (well I WANT new RAM), but I'm not sure if PC2700 of 2100 or whatever will work...soo im wondering if someone here knows which one i need.

This is the laptop that i have http://www.hp.ca/products/static/presario-notebooks/V2210CA/V2210CA.pdf

This is the RAM that i have
512MB 266MHz DDR System Memory (2 Dimm)
Dimm)

So which kind of RAM do I need to buy?

Thanks for any help guys

PC2100 RAM is what you need as it operates at 266MHz whereas the PC2700 operates at 333MHz.

Hey another question bout RAM...laptop RAM in particular.

Is all RAM backward compatible? ie can I buy PC2700 or PC3200 and put it in my laptop that uses PC2100?

Thanks for any replies

Laptops can be really finicky with RAM especially if you want to downclock it from PC3200 to PC2100. Bring your laptop along to the store when you buy it and hopefully they'll let you try it out before you buy just to make sure it's compatible. Otherwise it can be a real pain.

But if it's the wrong RAM will it like make my laptop blow up or something? RAM is cheap on ebay, but not PC2100 for some reason...

The faster DDR sodimm's should be able to downclock without problems. If they don't work, the laptop either won't boot or it'll be unstable but it won't cause permanent damage.

For your HP, it sounds like both slots are full, HP put 256MB in each slot for 512MB total.

Yea im planning on taking one out. When I open up 50 firefox tabs it gets real laggy, especially if msn, bitcomet and realone are also running.

Better to try it on ur laptop before u buy, cause some even same model Ram, which may not compitable with some branded laptops.
