Just added ram yesterday. I get BSOD when I run photoshop as a second program (meaning having others open with it), I have to power down with the hard switch... but if I load PS first its fine. Wierd eh I know.
Is this ram no good? should I return it? grrr

It sounds like RAM
Download docmem or ramtester to test it to verify

would reinstalling the ram do anything or be a waste of time?
I thought Kingston was good stuff geez.

Is the RAM you added by chance Kingmax
EDIT: I read a bit farther, Kingston should be good for compatibility...
Yeah run the RAM tester application to determine whether it's faulty

Try the new RAM by itself. Might not play well with each other.

That might be true, and thats what Im thinking too, but unless they work together, it is useless, unless he has another computer he wants to drop it into.

Yes, download the pre-compiled bootable ISO and then burn it.

Check to see if your ram is even compatible with your motherboard. Check back to your manufacturer's website and see if there is a QVL (Qualified Vendors List) of compatible ram.

Easy thing to check... remove the RAm module. Try multitasking with Photoshop.. if you are ok then it is for sure the RAM.
Not all motherboard are compatible with all RAM speeds.. make sure you are not using the wrong type. And.. if you have the right module for your board.. is still possible that the Ram is defective (it happened to me once). Double check with a different stick.

ran tests no errors. umm, forgot to mention, the error im getting is a IRO_not equal or less whatever such such. Is that still a BSOD? the fatal death of error hahahabbi

UGH
I hate the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL crap
I've gotten it a few times, mostly when I push my Overclock too far after it fails prime95 but I say 'screw it' and play games anyways..
if you google that, there is no way to pinpoint that damn error, and its the worst BSOD there is..
My suggestion is relax your overclock, give your chipset/cpu/ram more juice and pray for the best
Battlefield 1942 has given me that a few times, even though its one of the least-graphically-intense games I own
Most people on the tech forums will say its driver-related, though.. You can try downgrading/upgrading all applicable drivers, and see if that makes a difference..

ok still need help figuring out what the heck it is.
Since I installed the ram 2 days ago, I got the IRQ more equal or less error 3x at startup of Photoshop, but only when I was running other programs. I took out the stick and put it back in, then I didnt get anymore IRQ errors in Photoshop. Instead from then on, I got hard freezes.
When I first installed the RAM and first power up right after, the laptop booted up to my desktop but froze - I had to power off with the button.
Then after that I got 2 hard freezes just out of nowhere - had to power down again with the button.
I ran all the tests on the RAM (thorough too since it took well over an hour) and no errors. I dont have another comp. anymore to try the ram on, plus its laptop RAM. How can I be getting these errors/freezes when the ram has no errors/ I dont get it.

It really does sound like an issue with the ram. Have you even checked that the ram is even compatible with your laptop? You may want to consider exchanging the ram you bought with another brand. To better help us help you, post your laptop and the specs of your RAM.

I was thinking, would running just the Kingston RAM by itself do anything? Try it to see if it still freezes. If it doesnt on its own, then wouldnt that signal most likely a conflict with my Samsung ram?
Its odd because I have Kingston box, but the ram chip itself says Infineon lol.
Did I get gipped? infineon? haha
Just need to find out if its the ram or the brand. If its the brand ill get another brand no problem, but if its the chip ill get another one same kind. I think it could be the later, because i might have fried or damaged it when putting in/ who knows.

wait - if I ran the tests on the ram and had no errors, wouldnt that mean that their is nothing wrong with the ram itself? lol
do the tests checking for errors picked up on the surface? say chips, marks, scratches on the module.

Seeing Infineon chips on your Kingston ram is nothing to worry about - it's actually quite common. Kingston *makes* the stick of memory, but they don't make ramchips. And it's the same story for everyone else. Every memory manufacturer use ram chip modules from other companies.
Basically, Kingston memory do not use Kingston ram chips - there is no such thing. Likewise, OCZ memory does not have OCZ ram chips. And Corsair memory does not have Corsair ram chips. And so on. They simply just don't make their own ram chips to use in their products. Instead, they use ram chips from companies like Winbond, TCCD, Hynix, Samsung, and Infineon to name a few. And then they rebrand the memory stick as their own.
Think of it as a Saphire brand video card using an ATI graphics chip on it - even though it is powered by ATI, the product will still be called a Sapphire video card, not ATI.
Anyways, I think that is a good idea. Try running it on the Kingston memory alone instead of the Samsung and see what happens then. Your Kingston memory may not be compatible with the Samsung in there.
IF you find it is incompatible, exchange your kingston memory for something else. Should this be the case, unfortunately it's hard to say wether if it is the brand, or the ram chips (or both) that is incompatible. Just take your chances and go back for another exchange if you keep having problems. BTW, did you run memtest on the samsung stick as well?

1. Tell me exactly what the Bugcheck code is. the first set of numbers as well as the ones in the brackets\
2. Do you have a memory.dmp file in your c:\windows? how about a mindump.dmp
3. Set your computer to capture a Kernel dump in my computer propertes - advanced - startup/recovery
4. Run this link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=46&p=13&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=CEBF3C7C-7CA5-408F-88B7-F9C79B7306C0&u=http%3a%2f%2fdownload.microsoft.com%2fdownload%2 fb%2fb%2f1%2fbb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706%2fMPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE
5. It should take 15 minutes, and it will spit out a cab with ur logs and driver versions. I can use that to see where the problem is.
If its hardware for sure, i'll know from the above information.

No, I meant the Blue screen CODE.
ITs usually something like cx000009 (0x000001 0x0112312) etc etc
Has it crashed again?
Anyway,
I looked through the mps reports you sent me, and the Blue screen is not being logged in Event viewer. This can happen for a number of reasons
1. You have a virus
2. The bluescreen is a fake bluescreen being imitated by a program
3. Faulty driver
My analysis
=========
Your bios is up to date
BIOS Version/Date TOSHIBA Version 1.70, 6/6/2005
All the drivers seem to be patched
Windows is patched
This is most likely a hardware issue which is why you're getting the IRQL NO LESS than or EQUAL
If you can get me the actual bugcheck Blue screen code, I can reference the internal knowledgebase here and help you out.
