I know I downloaded a codec for my desktop that makes avi's work fine, but i forget which one...

Which one would I need to display audio AND video to my .avi files in wmp 10?

Check out a program called "Gspot". It'll tell you exactly which codec you need for the file with a simple drag N drop.

You can also try AVICodec to determine what codec you need. Chances are you need Divx or Xvid.

When I encountered that same problem, I just installed cyberlink powerdvd and everything works fine. I guess any software dvd player will do the same thing as the program will install the necessary codecs :)

www.free-codecs.com

get the k lite codec pack, will play anything, otherwise you need to get the wmp codecs plug in.
