I've seen these on the top of some Vancouver residences. They are supposed to scare away pigeons, I guess. It would be nice if it scared crows away too, 'cuz the crows are pecking at the fruit tree in the back yard. Anyone know where to buy and what the going price is?

I don't think that those work or else my neighbourhood here would be full of fake owls rather than pigeons!

try a large garden centre or nursery. i'm in ontario and used to work at one...we sold them. they were about 18-24 high, for under 20 bucks.

I think birds soon realize that its fake because theres never any movement.
Lee Valley (http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.aspx?c=1&p=45518&cat=2,51555) has one where the head moves.
Its $35 + tax but if the birds figure out your $20 one is fake, thats wasted $.

I've seen them at Garden Works in the ornaments section.
