ummm chinese places arent known for their decour however if you're looking for spicey chinese food just go into any restaurant and order the spicey stuff.

Anything on the m enu that says with X/O or black pepper. or even black bean tends to be spicey.

used to go to this japanese noodle place, for the name and address but it's in one of those plazas on Midland between steeles/mcnicol.

order the "huit day yok tong mein" loosy translated
"blood ground meat soup noodle"

i've only managed the "mild" version of the spicy, it was pretty hot, could prob go one step up but i won't. They have 3 levels of spiciness for that dish.
decore: very small and cramped. japanese decore.

I think Yokozuna, another japanese noodle place @ commerce gate may have the samething.
decore: much larger, typcial japanese decore.

sorry haven't really come across any really spicy chinese stuff yet.

Go to Federicks on Ellesmere (around Bellamy/Brimley?). It is Hakka Chinese and the food can be very spicy. Its not a fancy place but the food is great. The pecoras are sooo spicy. I always order the chili chicken. The place is always packed.

Their other place is called China Garden (out near Airport) that is run by the brother of Federicks.

And they give you this homemade spicy sauce on the side that has huge chunks of green chili peppers. It tastes so good on the Hakka Chow Mein...mmmm.....

Flavor King Sichuan Hot Pot Restaurant @ Midland & Finch.

Very spicy SC hotpot. Order the "big hot" flavour.

I don't know if any authentic Sichuan flavour restaurants in NE TO. Most have toned down their food in order to win Cantonese palate. If you want real hot, numbing SC food, gotta go to downtown TO. There's a really good, authentic SC restaurant on the east side of Spadina north of Dundas (one block north). The food is flaming hot.

Don't be scared about indian foods. I can understand your fear, but as long as you're prepared and know your taste buds, you will be fine.

Most people don't want to try Indian foods over fear of 3 things
1. Too spicy?
2. Too saucy?
3. Too many spices and flavours.

If you like chicken, then try Tandoori at an Indian restaurant. soft chicken baked in a clay over after being marinated in yoghurt and spices overnight.

Biryani - Rice with meat or fish
Tikka - Spicy and dry
Masala - spicy

Usually restaurants have descriptions for the food anyway. My suggestion is this, the first time you go to an indian restaurant, order some Tandoori Chicken with some Naan bread and maybe another dish that you are willing to experiment with, but i can guarantee that you will like the chicken + bread combination.

Indian food: I like biryani rice and naan bread. And curry, of course.

JIKONEE (Indian food)
160 East Beaver Creek Dr
Richmond Hill, Ont
(905) 762-8816
menu:

Bombay Chopsticks in Mississauga (Hwy #10 and Bristol Rd)
- Indian and Hakka Chinese restaurant, one of my top three. Biryani was ok, but the "crispy beef" is a must try! General George beef is also really good, much better than the General George chicken. Me and my friend who went there agree its the best non-steak beef we've ever tried. Most dishes $8-$10 and come with rice. Amazing value!! Best decor of any restaurant I've been to.

I heard Federick's is BAD. Their pakoras are good tho.

Hakka food:

Lin Garden Restaurant
416-491-8484
1806 Pharmacy Avenue,
Scarborough
-try green beans, Chili Chicken, House Shrimp, satay shrimp
It's not fine dining

Ming Room
905-812-1234
6461 Mississauga Road,
Mississauga
* supposedly Ming Room is better than Lin Garden*

Go to "Backyard Garden" in Metro Square on Steeles near Warden.
They have a chicken dish that is completely covered in red chilis. This should satisfy your spicy craving.

Don't go there, was there once, ordered that dish, and was picking out the chilis, and find a cigratte butt right in the dish. Call the waitess over and return it. A week later, saw it on fairchild tv news that they were giving a red card by health department, something about dirty kitchen.

Go to your favorite Chinese restaurant and tell the waiter that you like SPICY food. Tell the waiter to ask the chef to make your dishes spicy.

Most likely, the chef will spice up your food for you.

Alternatively, bring your favorite bottle of spice and spice up your food at the table.
