Went to eat at Sushi Hut last night, didn't even know they expanded the restaurant.. the TW supermarket across Tenren's closed down and Sushi Hut took over it, so their restaurant doubled in space you can say.. It looks a lot more spacious and less cramp now..
And their chinese name used to be "Un Jor" (Silver Seat), but now it's changed to "Yuen Tai".. Yet it's still called Sushi Hut in english.. And I've noticed some ppl working there are still same as before the change..

So including myself it was a group of 9, we got there around 8 and it wasn't too busy, it was at a steady pace sort of thing..
The only thing i liked about Sushi Hut is how you write what you want to order on their sheets instead of telling them every single thing..
First round of orders came really quick, the salmon and white tuna were typical quality, can't say the white tuna "melts" in my mouth for sure..! But knowing the rating of this restaurant i wasn't expecting too much.. The rolls and cooked food were typical as well.. I avoid eating the rolls since the rice is too filling, so can't comment much on that.. The teriyaki beef was way too cooked, very rough.. The tempura had too much batter, tasted more of that instead of the shrimp/veggie..

Before I continue, I gotta note Sushi Hut is KNOWN for missing orders, most of the time it's one or two from each round, all you can do is try ordering again..
While finishing first round we gave in the sheet for second round, and by then the restaurant was starting to get busier.. Then we waited what felt like 20 min for the second round of orders to come! The cooked food kept coming slowly but the sushi never got to our table (I saw there were 2 ppl making the sushi)..We called over the lady that seemed like the boss and asked about the orders, she said they most likely forgot or disappeared, so we should just order again..

So the third round.. Food started coming again, and all of sudden a LOAD of food came to our table.. One of the waiters said some are from 2nd round and some are from 3rd.. SIIIGH!!! I told myself I should've expected this from Sushi Hut!! But the food kept coming and coming! And one of waiters saw we looked like we were almost done and told us we still have a lot more coming, we were like wtf?! We just told them to stop the orders.. Very messed up for sure..
So we were finishing what was on our table, very full already.. And we see the waiters keep looking over to see if there's still food on our table, they looked like they were pissed or annoyed at us or something..
And we never got the itmes we really wanted, Like eel rolls.. all these other repeated items kept coming!

Oh, and just to add, when we ordered pop they came out in cups and not cans, some of them were flat too.. But then we saw some ppl got cans.. and tea was never filled, had to ask and they gave us a teapot instead.. (?!)

We heard from someone at our table he saw another group of ppl weren't happy with their meal and made a mess on their table.. Saw they had leftovers and were charged, they got to take the orders to go but heard they just dumped their leftovers outside of their restaurant.... (?)

Anyway, when we got the bill they gave us a stamp card too, think it was eat 14x get 1 free..? so we got 9 stamps there already.. but still for sure never ever coming back!

wow, it goes to show that the restaurant industry is day and night -- me, I have gone to sushi hut over twenty times. Never ever had a problem with them.

I admit, they're a little slow with the food but other than that, the sushi is great for me. Yes, the pop is flat on occassion but I don't really go to sushi buffet for pop ;)

wow, this was quite the experience here. I didn't think this place would have rolled downhill, especially since they were one of the first ayce sushi places.

They are located @ metro square in toronto, steeles and ferrier st, or steeles and warden.

This was one of the first ayce that served saba (mackeral) and tako (octopus) sushi and had a very generous and decent spider roll on their dinner ayce menu. I used to go here often a bit over 2 years ago.

They had one cantonese lady that dressed like she was 20, but anyways, she was really nice and really shuffled about when the place got busy. Always really kind and very attentive.
More restaurant managers should follow her lead (but dress their age).

Can't really say Sushi Hut gone downhill big time or anything..
I think I shouldn't expect too much from here that's all..
But just certain things annoy me...

Still, next time I'd choose another ayce than Sushi Hut

Near IBM building.

I ate once at Sushi Hut, a set dinner, not AYCE.

The food was decent/alright but I've tasted better. The green tea ice cream was the best part of the meal.

The staff were nice.

my dad knows the owner there very well. and she was always nice and had a pleasant service attitude. the food there was pretty good. i don't have any real complaints about them. but mind you, tho, the place has just expanded and they are adjusting to the new expansion. give 'em some time.

I went to Sushi Hut pretty recently and I found the food to be better than some of the other AYCE restaurants around the GTA.

They got a few of my orders wrong, which is common for AYCE service, but I certainly didn't experience as much disorganization as the OP did.

i've been there 3 times in total. i find that if u go w/ a sm group of ppl, it has better service. the first time i went w/ 3 friends..pretty good srv...they just missed a few orders. 2nd time i went w/ a friend..excellent srv, i think they just missed one order. third time i went w/ my family - 7 ppl....and will probably be my last time. first order, we ordered 12 shrimp tempura, they gave us only 4 (we had to share). tofu we ordered 1 just wanted to try, they gave us 8. Avocado roll, we ordered 1 (6pcs), they gave us 3 (18pcs). and the eel roll order never showed up. 2nd round, i ordered 8 shrimp tempura, they gave us only 2. i feel that we were stuffed w/ rice, not enough sashimi...

oh also becareful..they might add orders that u didn't order..... they add a stir-fry bean sprout (big plate too) to our sheet, which we didn't order. we told them we didn't order that but then they said we did and even showed us the sheet. luckily that i used my own pen (BLUE) to check the items - and that bean sprout dish was the only one was checked using RED pen......so i immediately was able to tell...and i pointed out to them....so i shut them up...and they had to take away the dish........so evil

my bf told me that $17.99 AYCE jap...u can't expect too much...........so i think i might still go back as long as it is w/i a sm group (like less than 4 ppl).......however this'll never b my 1st choice rest.
