Best back pack for laptops?

I heard targus is a very reputable notebook backpack company.

i have THIS ONE (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=253437430 2699713&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442545289&bmUID=1124246963816) from mountain equipment coop. inside has a neoprene lined pocket for laptops. just a simple, basic, backpack. nothing fancy. there's also a larger 3-compartment one, but i like the smaller more slim look of my smaller one.

if you carry a targus, most people will know you are carrying a laptop in there ;)

I find that crumpler bags are great for laptops! I've already got two, just picked one up recently. The padding is great in them and there's pockets everywhere you need them. They have a catalog on their website.

NB: Avoid buying in store as crumplers can be very expensive! I normally order it off ebay from a place in Montreal because they're drastically cheapers than in store prices.

Globo has some really nice Swiss Gear laptop backpacks for $69.99. They've got the features of the Targus ones, but look more stylish, and are cheaper than the ones by Timbuktu.

I suggest HEX, has some nice ones, Jansport also has some, try some brands that futureshop/bestbuy do not carry, so that people don't know you're carrying a laptop.

I have a Crumpler too. Great bag, seems bomb proof.

One thing to note, there is a LOT of padding, which is good and bad. Good because it protects your computer. Bad because it makes the bag bulkier. I wouldn't recommend Crumpler bags for smaller people unless you are only toting around a 12 inch notebook.

laptop bags usually have a seperate, extra padded compartment for the laptop.

Oh I see, the most common design I see are the "backpack" style but I wanna get the design that has a strap that goes around the shoulder while the bag is on the side of the body.
Any advice on where I can find this style in local retailers in Toronto that doesn't look like a typical black laptop bag?

My friend has a 100$ Targus one, last year I purchased a NexTech one at Staples for 55$ and has much more room for extra stuff and is better made (materials) then the 100$ one is... I find the Targus ones are way too small, although they make good shoulder straps... If you can find the NextTech one at staples, I would go with that, excellent backpack for the money...
