What the? The 07s were frosh leaders for 04-05, and now the 08s are for 05-06 unless there's some sort of time warp going on. Also, your spelling and grammar really show on the calibre of this school.

How are you an 07 and a frosh leader? (I'm assuming you're either a gael or a freck)

Or maybe I'm mistaken and ASUS allows any year student to be frosh leaders.

Well, sorry I was in a hurry. Having said that, I am not sure about your school. But being a frosh leader is a great experience, I have done that last year, and will do it again.

There is no hard in stone rule that class of 2007 cannot have a frosh leader for new kids, well, not at queen's atleast.

And if your school does set a limit on it, WOW, I feel bad for you guys then. Froshies are cool, frosh week at queen's is very high spirited and I am proud to be a part of that tradition.

Thanks.. :)

I went on Queens DC++ hub. It was so quiet and their attitude was like "Don't talk, just d/l whatever you need and then leave."

On the other hand, U of T DC++ hub is fun and interesting. Everyone talks and openly talks about their collection.

How did you get onto the Queen's DC++ Hub? It's not accessible outside of resnet.

Even if it was, I don't know what you're talking about! The Queen's hub was hilariously fun the year I was in rez.

It was fun our year, especially the race to a 500gig share at the end. Who ever ran it last year didn't have a goddamned clue.

Who are you? I'm sci07 as well. Apple Elec here.
Yes, I'm one of those guys.

Frosh Week:
I don't think many people in 3rd or 4t year become FRECs (this is for Eng)... at least none I've heard of.

On the DC Hub:
When I was "in charge" (read: Assistant bossman/b!tch) it was a fun open chatroom. That was 03-04 in rez. I didn't go on at all this past year/, being in the Ghetto and all. I have no idea what they did with it.

DC++ has been growing stronger... I was actively involved in residence council.. and peer judicial board. So, I was at Vic hall almost every other day for work. Laptop came in handy to get some apps :P

And for those who do not know what DC++ is:

It is basically sharing files within our own resnet....network of computers... (simple definition)

Some people were talking about taking it to ghettos, using a wireless mesh, but I dunno if that happened.. Not that I know off..

Well, we believe in peace (V) ... and moreover purpose of this thread is to welcome our new frosh this year... are you a queen's frosh? uhh no you are not (assuming... on what you've been saying all along)... so why bother posting in this forum. You definitely have something personal against Queen's. Go somewhere else and release your inner tension LOL.. I love when I talk.. so, yeah, please this is for OUR FROSH, or anyone who is interested in Queen's...clearly you do not fall in either of the categories.

RFD is for people who love to share thoughts, NOT to throw away rants...ENOUGH said...

It didn't and won't. Let's face it, people are cheap and we'd all have to buy a mesh capable router. On top of that, what's to stop people people from using someone's internet connection 2-3 hops away? The technical knowledge of the person running that node 2-3 hops away? Ha! It's a giant security cluster**** just waiting to go off.

I've looked into running an ISP in the ghetto but a couple of things don't really add up. First and obvious is startup capital and second is the fact that most students use significantly more bandwith than "normal people." I guess you could run a sort of outdoor ethernet network, but you'd have to lay the copper/fibre and then figure out how to control access to the backbone.

In short, any sort of community wireless/ISP project in the ghetto is just a pipedream.

Well, we believe in peace (V) You completely missed the point here.

You definitely have something personal against Queen's. Not true. As you can tell, I go to Queens. I have no doubt I made the right choice coming here, but that doesn't mean some things really bother me, mostly the groupthink and indoctrination.

I love when I talk I can tell.

Clearly though I am excluded from sharing my thoughts? In the spirit of the thread: Never going to climb the pole frosh. They'll have to chisel you out in December so they can send you home for Christmas.

I finished last spring (CISC) but I will still be on campus working for the upcoming school year. I'm not ready to totally leave the university life.

There seem to be a bunch of Queen's people here, we should have a get together after things have settled down a bit. Maybe early October.

Apple Math, hmm... I know a few ppl from that faculty (btw, I was on Eng Floor). Wei, Yuki, cameron smith (not sure if he's still taking it), sarah L (soo hot). Keep guessing.

btw, I was supposed to be in engfiz last yr but b/c i seriously fked up calc so now i'm basically back on track with my eng program and getting into 2nd yr ( sci08 is still better than arts08). i managed to get into dual degree program with econ, so the extra yr wasn't quite wasted i guess. Where are u guys located?? I'm in etobicoke near Islington and Rathburn.
