The BA: IT program is pretty cool. Not very hard (if you are an Atkinson Student). You cover: Architecture of computer hardware & software (mostly theoretically), Java levels 1 & 2 (if ur going for the full load), Introduction to Information Technology (talks about all the management stuff... a bit boring but useful). ;)
hope that helps!

Just a word of advice, don't say you're Bachelors is a B.A.S because people will confuse that with B.A.Sc, which is TOTALLY different.
The S. in your case probably stands for Specialized. But the best way to see what kinda degree you'll get out of it, is to login to REM and go to your current semester, it'll list your Academic program!

AK ADMS 1010 Cr=3.00 Q Term:W Business in the Canadian Context
For anyone taking business in canadian context, I'd strongly suggest against taking it online. Took it during summer school and the requirements for the course are unreasonable compared to the inclass course. They're pretty much identical except for the participation marks required for online courses.
To get your participation marks you had to write 5 - ~2000 word essay that are worth only 2% each. You'll need to spend a huge amount of time for only 2% and they arent gauranteed marks. Seen many people get zeros or 1%. Its also disproportioned considering your 10 page major essay is worth 35%, while your 6 pages are worth 2%. Unless you like writing essays, your time is better well spent on other courses.

I may have some of the books if you want used ones.
For intermediate accounting,it will most likely be learning on your own.Prof will explain in class but you will have to practice a lot.The more you practice, the better you will do intermediate 1 and 2 and same apply to QM2.
Law.Just take notes of the case that the prof is discussing in class. Most of the questions repeat every semester and mosf of them will be from the one discussed in class or in the textbooks. You should memorise definitions too.FINAL is very hard as compared to the midterms.Getting past midterms will help as the format is the same.I would say that the exam is kind of race against time.
Syllabus for finance change ,so i cant really tell you but you guys are lucky since they are lot easier now.
MIS is a memorizing course. That sucks as you have to study a lot and it is very boring and very hard to memorise.

Actually the prof is pretty much an idiot (I take the course with JEDI), and it's a mandatory course... so we can't drop it. Actually it seems that most of the ITEC profs don't really care about the students and are in class just for the paycheck (or sometimes not even in class:mad:)...

Generally the only classes that dont last the entire time for the first day are classes that are short ie 1hr classes. By the time they're done introducing the course theres no time to teach. 3hr class = pretty much guaranteed teaching.

Yea that happens sometimes too. I think it really depends more on what type of course it is. ie. a social science course would likely have more leeway on the exact content covered on a week to week basis as opposed to an statistics course, where certain chapters must be covered.

man York is HUGE..I got so lost on the first first day. Anyways, I'm thinking about taking a language course to learn Chinese, has anyone taken such courses? is it hard?
What does "seats have been reserved, go to the department to get permission to join the class" mean exactly? Who reserves them??

That's why a campus map is recommanded for 1st yr student. ;)
"seats have been reserved, go to the department to get permission to join the class" means you HAVE to contact dept office (walk-in, phone or email), and let them know you want to take the course. If you meet the course prerequisite, they will unblock you from the system, then you can add the course by using the enrollment system.

Im in CHIN 1000 right now. From what my friends have told me its fairly easy to get a good mark ;) ;) if you know what I mean. Though the point of taking it is not really to get just a good mark, but to actually learn the language.
Good thing about taking the course is, during the following summer you can opt to take the next course which involves 3-4 weeks in class and then you'll spend 3-4 weeks in shanghai for class and sightseeing. York subsidizes the costs of the trip by $2000, so it'll cost you about $2000. $3000 if you include the cost of taking the course itself.

Yup you'll have to go in and talk to the prof. She'll give you an interview to make sure you belong in this class or a higher level. Than you'll be able to add it online when they give you permission. If you do intend on taking it, attend the classes now so you dont fall behind. One of my classes (first year) had so many people, there was no standing room! So we had to moved to a bigger room (Accolade West). Still, there were too many people with barely any standing room. Now there's a possibilty that some students will be forced to change/drop that course.

nice. ur lucky to be in accolade west. I didn't get any class (so far) in that building. they should split it up into 2 sections instead of forcing students to drop their course. Maybe they don't have any halls/profs available heh.

Mech is non existant.
CE is OK. It's more software oriented though, as the program is essentially a spinoff from their CS program (unlike most other universities, CE was a spinoff from EE).
