I have a friend at Ryerson who took two online courses through Athabasca for the summer, he really liked it, (I never asked him indepth about it) I will and will let you know what he says here.

I've taken four courses through athabasca over summers. Its decent, but ends up being a lot more work than actually going to lectures since the reading tends to take a lot longer since there is double the reading instead of classes.

I love it! It's great if you tend to sleep through lectures and wind up teaching yourself everything anyway..
If you're self-motivated, its a great way to go. (Also, I got three A's at Athabasca, so maybe my experience has been skewed positively due to success.)
I actually just finished a 4-year degree at a 'regular' university, and I might get another degree (ie. business) at Athabasca.
