Well, first year's over and i'm entering second year, the time has come to sell all my old books for some $$ to buy some new ones next year :D.. I have books for sale for courses relating to computer science, calculus, astronomy, east asian studies + economics..all books are at least 50% off retail prices at the UofT bookstores (such a ripoff) and at least 20-30% off discount bookstores (they arent THAT good).. buy more save more..
Also, one very important note that you MUST READ, most of these books are NOT the latest editions, meaning they are not the same ones used in class, BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER. It is perfectly fine to use an older book because the material is 99% the same (small change in graphics, words, etc.). Profs change books almost every year to make you spend more money on new books so DONT BE FOOLED!!! The only time you should worry is if you are buying an older book and you need to do questions out of it for assignments, then you need the newest one but for reading it doesnt matter :)
1) A MULTIMEDIA INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAMMING USING JAVA
Author: GRIES, D.& GRIES,P. (actual profs)
This book is for CSC108 (introduction to computer science) and is a MUST-GET for those entering computer science first year. 99% of students (beginners or experts) take this course because it's a prereq to all comp sci. programs and its a pretty easy course too. This book is the 2003-2004 version. Excellent condition, no highlites, very good as a reference book.
Regular price: $82.75+tax My price: $45, you save 53%
Will also include notes, assignments, tests, exams, basically everything I still have in my posession for $10
2) ONE AND SEVERAL VARIABLES CALCULUS 9th EDITION
Author: Salas, Hille & Etgen
This book is for MAT137 (elite math) and is a MUST-GET for all those entering computer science, actuary science and maybe life science since you'll be doing questions off the book for assignments. They've been using this book for several years in a row now and are still using it for summer school so Im pretty sure they'll be using it 2005-2006 too. Please note that this book is called ONE AND SEVERAL because it is used for first year and second year calc courses (has few more chapters) but the one they sell at stores is just called ONE because it only contains first year material. Excellent condition, no highlites, absolute essential.
Regular price: $136.95+tax My price: $70, you save 55%
Will also include notes, assignments, tests, exams, basically everything I still have in my posession for $10
3) ECONOMICS 10th CANADIAN EDITION
Author: Richard G. Lipsey & Christopher T.S. Ragan
This book is for ECO100 (introduction to economics) and again this is a very popular course. Most people take it for their business programs but a lot of people take it as an elective too and it can also be used for a joint program with comp sci. ECO is all about reading (class notes are so horrible) so I suggest you get this book if you're taking the course. This book is the 2003-2004 version BUT the prof (J. Carr) said it was 100% fine to use it because the text is EXACTLY the same, only pages are diff. Excellent condition, no highlites.
Regular price: $112.95+tax My price: $65, you save 50%
Will also include notes, tests, exams, basically everything I still have in my posession for $10
4) COSMIC PERSPECTIVE 3rd EDITION
Author: Benett, Donahue, Schneider & Voit
This book is for AST101 (introduction to astronomy) and again is an essential for this course because you'll be needing it for assignments, quizzes and studying. A lot of people take this course not because they want to become astronomers but because this is a bird course (GPA booster). This book is the exact book used last year. Comes with a Media Workbook and multimedia CD too. Excellent condition, no highlites.
Regular price: $121.92+tax My price: $70, you save 50%
Will also include notes, assignments, quizzes, tests, exams, basically everything I still have in my posession for $10
5) IN QUEST FOR THE UNIVERSE 4th EDITION
Author: Kuhn
This book is for AST201 (continuation of AST101) and again is an essential for this course because you'll be needing it for assignments, quizzes and studying. A lot of people take this course because they found the prequel very easy. This book is the exact book used during this summer so it should still be in use in 2005-2006. Comes with a multimedia CD. Okay condition, some highlites.
Regular price: $71.50+tax My price: $35, you save 58%
Will also include notes, assignments, quizzes, tests, exams, basically everything I still have in my posession for $10
6) APPROACHES TO MODERN EAST ASIAN HISTORY
Author: Yu Chang (actual prof)
[i]This book is for HIS107/EAS204. It's basically a compilation of photocopied articles and readings that are required for the course. It was the exact same one used last year but it may change this year. Excellent, some highlites.
