Hi everyone,

I bought a canon powershot sd200 recently but now I got an error message on it during my trip to Cuba of all times. Apprently it's a common problem with Canon the error is called E18. My camera will turn on but the lens will not extend when I try to turn it on. I've searched around google and noone has the right solution for me. The bad thing is I got the camera from someone off the board so it does not have warrenty. I brought it to henrys and they told me that it will cost me $50 alone to send it to canon just to diagonize the ****in problem.

DOes anyone know of a store in TOronto that fixes Digital Cameras?

you can go canon directly ...

Canon Canada Inc.
6390 Dixie Road
Mississauga, Ontario L5T 1P7
Canada

some say they'll do the repair if it's still within the warranty year ..but i have no idea

i believe the E18 occurs when a plastic screw/holder snaps when the lens is trying to extend in the beginning but couldn't (e.g. it was blocked, etc)

this place is in Mississauga, they only do camera repairs. I had mine repaired about 3 months ago...no problems so far, but it wasn't cheap.

I have an Olympus digital camera. There was a crack in the casing, and the camera was unable to generate any juice from the batteries. Needed a new circuit board and casing. Cost was around $250. I didn't feel it was the best financial decision, but it was given to me as a present, so I bit the bullet.

fyi, my Coolpic hit the floor (compliments of my little jedi pulling on the enticing strap hanging off the table - doh!) so I sent it away to a dude in the US who fixes them up in his spare time - fixed it up, REAL cheap (comparatively to the repair shops). If you have a broken Nikon, PM me for his details.

I suggest trying Canon directly first... I don't have any experience with Canon, but I've had a Kodak camera and Fujifilm camera repaired by the manufacturer under warranty with no proof of purchase (one camera was purchased out of country and I'd lost the receipt for the other camera). The cameras were still within their warranty periods so they fixed them for free.
