I mean Staples doesn't have the 15 dollar rebate, so shouldn't they also match it?

they will NOT match the $15 MIR because it is exclusive to Best Buy.

Here is the policy on page 4 for stooples PM.
-If a competitor's ad says price after Mail in Rebate...
* Our stores should try to limit price guaranteeing the Competitor's price after mail in rebate.
* Our stores should attempt to explain to the Customer that the Competitor requires you to mail away to get the additional savings, therefore we can't give it to you instantly today. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, GIVE THE CUSTOMER THE MATCH FOR THE MAIL IN REBATE ON THE SPOT.
The last line was written in caps. I don't know what they mean by match for the mail in rebate.... Does that means 100% pricematch only?

so after PM, is it 24.99 - (39.99-24.99)/2 = 17.49 ?

Yup.
It would be cheaper to buy it from Best Buy (course you gotta deal with a MIR).

actually i believe it is:
(BB normal price) 50 - 25 instant = $25 (BB, sale price)
40-25 = 15
40-15-15/2 = 17.5
So after PM at staples it would be $17.50, before taxes and with no rebate :( cheaper just to get it at BB.

I still think the BB price of $9.99 is a pretty good deal as long as you get the rebate back.. I'm thinking of buying one actually.. would go well with my wired logitech mouse.. call me old fashioned but I still prefer wired keyboards/mice over wireless. :)

This rebate *should* work with a Staples receipt. I've done this exact thing before with a Sandisk Cruzer and Sony CDR spindle. I'm 2 for 2 success.
If you PM at Staples, you'll get the KB for $17.50. Now, if you print off the Bestbuy rebate and *cut off the top part such that there is no Bestbuy logo* and mail it in properly filled out with a copy of your Staples receipt and SKU, you *should* get the $15 rebate.
The fine print of the rebate form seems to indicate it's a Logitech rebate and not a Bestbuy rebate.
So unless it's an exclusive deal between Logitech and Bestbuy, you should get the $15 back.

I wouldn't take my chances. I called the number on the rebate form earlier today and talked to a CSR at expressgroup rebates. I asked if it would be honoured with a staples receipt and she checked the info for this specific offer. She told me that the terms of this offer explicitly state that this rebate is only valid for purchases made at Futureshop, futureshop.ca, Bestbuy or bestbuy.ca. She said therefore sending in a receipt from Staples would be denied.
I also attempted to pricematch this at my local Staples and they would only PM the $24.99 price before rebate, and would not agree to match the $9.99 price at 100%. They told me I'm better off getting it at FS or BB, which I think I will.

I tried this yesterday. It came up to $22.50 or something like that. I actually went in for the ms keyboard/mouse desktop 3.0 but it was oos *supposedly*, same for the mouse that was on sale for $10 at bb or fs. I had the flyer with me so I looked for the other keyboard and got my hopes up to get it for 1 cent. pesky mir. As soon as I showed her the staples website 150% guarantee she said they dont go by the website, they have thier own. I wish I printed the part that said the online PM is the same as the store one, but oh well.
Another failed PM attempt. im 0/2, ehe.
This was Staples on Merrivale in Ottawa.
Does anyone know if the mir is good for staples as well? Like can you get it off of the website?

I would rank them below Staples and around FS level.
Take a LONG time and you better keep photocopies of everything.
