You basically get 100 local and 100 long distance minutes, giving you a total of 200. Plus if you have an MSD code on your account you'll get up to 75 free additional minutes.

-Nokia 6101 (on Rogers website now)
-Nokia 6682 (probably September 2nd)
-*Nokia 8101* (probably September 2nd)
-Nokia 6822 (probably September 2nd)

If you work for a big company or the government you are most likely eligible for an MSD code which gives you the right for special plans and bonuses. Just dial *611 on your phone and ask a rep or goto your local Rogers store.

i have 15 day satisfaction guarantee from fido, is it worth to cancel my fido service and get rogers instead, from experience, rogers has better coverage up north, so does per second billing really matter

Well, couple of things to mention. First, per-second billing's advatages can vary - in theory, you could effectively gain 100% more airtime - eg if you make a 3x 1m 1sec calls, Fido would bill for 3m 3sec, while Rogers would bill for 6 minutes. Real-life use varies, so the benefits probably won't be as great.

Second, if you want the coverage, go with the Fido option to roam on Rogers for $5/mo when you plan on travelling up there.

Just wanted to mention that a friend just signed up to Rogers today, and although the mokeys at the source offered this plan, they made no mention of the free incoming & LD. There should be no problem switching a plan that's less than 24h old, should there?

99.99% sure it's unlimited local incoming calls. The best I can suggest for a lot of US calls is a) subscribing to a Rogers Wireless LD plan - drops it from $0.25/min to like $0.15/min. OR if it's always the same person calling you, get them to use a calling card - such incoming calls are generally considered local.

You are correct. Long distance charges apply depending on the subscriber's location. If you remain in your local area and anyone from anywhere (even the moon) calls you, it is still considered a "local call" and no LD charges.

The reverse also applies. You can be in another part of the country and someone from your local area calls you, YOU will incur the LD charges and not them (since they are dialing local).

Hope this helps.

I had the same corporate plan as you had. I actually called and switched to the unlimited plan. Since 1000 E&W minutes is basically unlimited... 175 (with MSD code) minutes is close to 200... And the unlimited minutes is basically what I'll be taking advantage of...

Well, as you know now, Rogers bought Fido. Both now use the same network, but there's a catch. If you sign a 2 year contract with Fido you'll be able to use the whole network for no extra charge. If you go month-by-month, you'll have to pay an extra $5 for the extra coverage. Of course if you go month-by-month and don't pay the $5 you'll got Fido's old coverage area.

No... 1000minz is NOT equal to Unlimited~!!! It just dependz how's the user use it. B4 when my gf is @ London, it were on da phone @ around 1:00a.m to 4:00a.m almost everynite... 60minz = 1HR... if 3 HRZ of talk everyday U will done ya 1000minz in 10dayz~~~~ SO ... be carefully what type of USER you are...

Second, a 100 DayTime minz and 100 LongDistance minz is NOT equal to 100 + 100 = 200minz~ *** I can't for sure what I'm saying is right but I think U should call up Rogers and ask, I've been using Rogers for 5 yearz so I kinda know their trickz on customerz *** Anywayz, 100 LongDistance minz is they don't charge U ON TOP of the Daytime/EW Minz. So, if you use your 100 LD minz during the Mon-Fri DAY duration, you won't be charge for LD. However, your Daytime minz still count.

Incomin' Callz from US/Asia or Anywhere DOES NOT count as Long Distance call on ya billz no matter. I'm 100% sure for this since my dad call me once/twice a week from HK. However, if you are using the phone OUT of Rogers service area, let say @ New York or whatever, then U have to pay 2 Phone company charge. One from Rogers and one from which-ever da phone company that has connection on your phone @ that place~ If you run into this, it is EXREMELY expensive...

Again, if you doubt what I'm saying you can bring it up and discuss, or call Rogers to clear up...

the 100 canadian LD minutes only count towards calls made out of your local calling area, or if you're outside of your local calling area and recieve a cal... they cannot be combined with your local calling minutes

1000 evening and weekends is not unlimited but is still a fair amount of minutes considering you're on unlimited incoming

if during the daytime, you call a number outside your local area, it will count towards your canadian long distance minutes ONLY... not both your local and LD

incoming calls from us/asia will be free for you if you're within your local calling area only... if you're outside, you will be billed under LD

if you're outside of canada, you will be billed under roaming and not under your included LD minutes

hope this clears it up...

try calling Rogers Customer Relations at 1-888-936-7283 and ask them to renew your plan for 3 years(thats 3 years from the date you call, not 3 + whatever you have now) AND ask for the current unlimited calling promotion.

a Rogers customer that is renewing his or her contract is entitled to get the current contract promotion. in this case, it is either 3 months or 6 months airtime. rogers changed it a few days ago to 6 months, so you can ask for "6 months of unlimited text, local calls, picture messages"

theoretically, you can keep doing it every 6 months, i've done it once so far, after 6 months, i'm going to do it again and again. its not fraud or cheating, because you are required to extend your CONTRACT with Rogers.

New customers can get that plan ONLY if you are working for a big company such as Mcdonalds, the Federal Government, etc. Otherwise, you must have been a Rogers customer for 6 months

what you could do is look at www.buysell.com in the cell phone section, you will probably find some guys/girls looking to get rid of a 's1htty' rogers plan such as $25 for 50 day and 1000 evenings, you can take over their contract then renew it using the procedure I outlined above. Rogers doesnt charge any fees to take over someones plan, as long as you have good credit.

new bell plans are out today(expire on august 19), but they are not as good as roger's unlimited plan. perhaps, bell will bring back the all in one extreme plan(100 min, unlimited incoming, evening, weekend and 100 min can ld) back sometime in the future to counter roger's plan.

If I take over someone's contract, can my name under that contract? I want to change the contract which I will take over to under my name. But I know in Telus, that counts to a new customer.

However telus has a disgusting cancellation fee. With Telus the cancellation fee could be up to $720 ($20 x months left). With Rogers the cancellation fee is limited to $200.

Yes, you have to go on a 2 or 3 year plan. If you're already with Rogers you can switch over and it won't extend your contract.

My current plans expires Sept 2007. I just phoned rogers and spoke with a CSR... According to her, if I want to sign up for this promotional plan I would have to renew my two year contract. I figured what the hell, I'm locked in till 2007 anyways... it won't make any difference.

According to her though... she says they will ADD an additional two years to my contract... making it expire in 2009!!! I think that's a load of BS... but just wanted to get some other people's opinions before I phone in and talk to another CSR or manager.

I currently have a rogers promotional package.. it's normally around $90, but I'm getting it for $50. (includes 750 weekday minutes, unlimited evenings/weekends starting at 6pm). It's a great plan and I loved it when I first got it... but I don't nearly make as many daytime calls anymore. I'm usually averaging around 100 now. So this new plan sounds perfect for me.

Any advice is appreciated - as always

She's wrong. Call back. You can change your plan anytime without extending your term, so long as you don't go below a certain amount, $20 per month.

try calling Rogers Customer Relations at 1-888-936-7283 and ask them to renew your plan for 3 years(thats 3 years from the date you call, not 3 + whatever you have now) AND ask for the current unlimited calling promotion.

a Rogers customer that is renewing his or her contract is entitled to get the current contract promotion. in this case, it is either 3 months or 6 months airtime. rogers changed it a few days ago to 6 months, so you can ask for "6 months of unlimited text, local calls, picture messages"

theoretically, you can keep doing it every 6 months, i've done it once so far, after 6 months, i'm going to do it again and again. its not fraud or cheating, because you are required to extend your CONTRACT with Rogers.

Hey Thanks for the heads up I am going to try that, but will this work if I sign a contract about 6 months ago? So I should just call up and say what you were saying?

Exactly. just say you want to renew for 3 years and get the 6 months unlimited text/localcalls/pictures - the more intelligent CSR's out there will be pissed off at what you're doing but it is NOT a free lunch you getting, because you're extending your CONTRACT with Rogers.

it all depends whether you're signing up for the plan or the phone.

If you want the best plans, you should definately go with Fido...

Yes. it is funny. The more dumb CSRs will probably just do it without arguing, but the more smart ones will see what you're trying to do, but if they argue just say something like "well, are you saying that on behalf of Rogers you are refusing my request to EXTEND my contract with Rogers? that'll probably do the trick

LOL! Unlimited local calling, text and picture messaging for $25 indefinitely or until they no longer offer the promo. Great find! I'm going to try that one.

Yes. its a great trick. However, when you do it, and when the Rep gives it to you, ask for a reference number for that transaction so just in case you get a huge bill for daytime calls you can use that number to get the charges cancelled.

I notice that all these good deals are not available to family plan. Can someone advise what is the best deal available for family plan of 2 ? Currently paying $35 + $6.95 x 2 plus taxes for $150 min weekdays and weeknights, unlimited weekend. Rogers said no option (like after 6 pm or 8 pm unlimited) can be added on this plan ..........

The operator also told me that no plan (including Corp plan) is available to exempt $6.95 access fee....... But I remember my friend is on plan without System Accesss Fee.

Generally speaking, family plans are ****, UNLESS you talk to eachother A LOT (since its "free").

My advice is you put each of those phones on seperate lines, only then will you MAY be able to get sweet rentention plans.

Good luck

/me points to HOFO for all rogers zealots...

You have a nice plan, I can get the same plan for 25$/month (through my company), however I would need to sign on a 2 year plan minimum.

Not to mention I've been with rogers for 5+ years...

If you need more minutes... just get 2 corporate plans instead of the 1 family plan. Unfortunately you'll have to pay 2 system access fee's...
