bought them.. they were crap so I returned them today. High pi errors but no pi failures. I used a dw1620 burned at 16x
I bought two spindles. I opened one and one was sealed. The manager tried to give me the same "no refund on open spindles" but I told him I only used 1 disc.
Also on the side of the package it has a guarantee against defective media. It said to return it to the reseller for a repalacement. Since I told him the disks are crap I didn't want a replacement.

They're horrible. And to everyone who says "as long as my player plays it, it's fine", well, it's very possible they won't play after only a few short months.

That is just an advertisement. It just depends on their definition of quality.
Spend a few more cents/disk and you can get something with better quality.
Better disk tends to be more readable.
You can see the bad result of hyundai dvd. Most dvd player will have trouble with the disk.

Why would anyone take a chance on saving $7 compared to Sony 8X DVD's at Walmart ($19.77 for 50).
Even genuine TY's are not all that much more expensive than these and have a great reputation.
By the way, when Staples opened here in Midland, Ontario, they had a pack of 5 DVD recordable discs for $0.99 or something like that. Every one of these Verbatim DVDs take really long to read in my home DVD player (over a minute), compared to about 10 seconds for other burned discs.

I bought a pack of these today to try, they work flawlessly in my 3 different branded DVD players, PC and both of my Xboxes (Game and movie) and my PS2 (Game and movie). I really can't say these are bad, they also aren't silver tops and have a very good quality surface, they remind me of memorex media from a couple years back. I'm happy with the price of $12.99. I bought the -R but +R was there too, I may try the +R tomorrow.

^ yea I like the surface of it too because when you write on it with a marker it doesn't fade/blot like the surface of those Fuji ones...and the packaging of these do look an awful like the previous Memorex packaging...

props to it for being made in HK :D I guess it should be better than the Made in China or Taiwan

I'm not certain that the message other members are tryin to convey is getting through to everyone, so its worth reiterating.
Cheap media, although it may burn error free, the concern is that the dye on the DVD will not last over time.
So, you go rent a DVD Movie, burn yourself a copy of it. Realistically you might not re-watch that DVD for over a year. One year later......you toss the DVD into you Walmart DVD Player and you get a Read Error. Or better yet, you watch half the movie and then it dies on you.
So, forget about all these DVD "Bargins". Stick with the trusted brands, like Taiyo Yuden, from the trusted retailers like ncix.com and blankmedia.ca

that pretty much sums it up. You wont be saving money in the long run by buying these, and I sure hope whatever you put on them isn't expected to last for much more than a year (maybe less!).
In the world of blank media, you get what you pay for.

Speculation. I have yet to see any proof from people who make these arguements.

I just purchased these from radi....errr...The Source, and honestly, for 13.99, id say id be satisfied.
Ive purchased much crappier Optodisc generic 50 packs for 15 bucks. and these id say are maybe a VERY SLIGHT notch above those.
I see alot of glue sloppiness, but luckily, so far no dye mishaps, unlike alot of generic computer store optodisc or whatever media may have.
However, its an absolute robbery at their regular price of 34.99. Im hoping people will read their flyers and buy better emdia for cheaper at FS or BB.

Would you rather take a chance, save a few bucks and then a year from now find out that all the movies you copied, data you backed-up, photo you have on disc no longer play/read OR would you prefer to reduce your risk and pay a few cents more per disc for media that is know to be of high quality?
Obviously each person can make their own choice, however I prefer to spend the extra money for quality media. You can get TY DVD's for under $40 for 100. 40 cents for 4.7GB of storage is a fair price IMHO.
