I don't like Honda Civics or their drivers. Actually I apologise. I am generalising way too much.
I don't like MODED Honda Civics.. Especially hatchbacks. Most of the drivers are REAL posers.
I answered the following to someone who who asked me what I thought of their as they called it "machine":
I responded:
"Take all the money you paid for the vehicle and the mods... and buy a real sports car. Then come ask me what I think".
That's my 2 cents worth.

civic have the most aftermarket market out of all the cars in the world.... thats why everyone buys them, from a civic owner point of view they will have 20+ different selections just for turbo, brakes, headers.... in the other hand from a BMW owners point of view or even a WRX all they will have is no more then 3 choices.
then again i know 12.xx civics that will smoke any sports car you can afford. dont ever think only poor people mod civics.

Its hard to be unique these days, unless you import a Civic Type-R from Japan.
I think the worst is putting tons of stickers and ricing it all up.

"somewhat"
If somebody's going to take the time to mod their Civic into a sports car, I'm all for that-- there's no reason why a Civic *can't* be something that it originally was not. I just hope they didn't buy a Civic because Civics are some sort of magical cool status-giving car.
If somebody's going to buy a Civic and rice it up, blech. I've seen enough of those idiots around. The sad thing is that people who don't know, when they see/hear those cars they actually believe that they're fast...
Me, I'm more of a comfort person. My opinion is that no matter how much somebody mods a Civic, it's still an uncomfortable small car. Too much engine noise and road noise for my liking. Yuck, my family used to have two Civics-- I used to think they were OK until I got a ride in a friend's comfy old Ford. Then one of the Civics was wearing out, so we bought a minivan-- wow, comfort! Then some old guy ran a stop sign and totalled the new Civic, and my mom bought a brand-new Jetta to replace it-- yuck, I liked the Civic better than the Jetta-- the Jetta cost $10K more, but is slower and has poorer ride quality. I'd choose my 14-year-old 15-second American sedan over a Jetta/Civic anyday!

Once again your complete lack of reading comprehension skills rears it's ugly head. MUST I recap every discussion for you?
<sigh>Ok, here we go.
1. You stated that Civics have the most aftermarket parts in the world. For once, something you said was true.
2. You then stated that the Subaru WRX has a poor selection of aftermarket parts. This of course, is false. (Are you too stupid to do a Google search, or should I post links?)
3. I then stated that a chipped WRX with an aftermarket turbo kit will smoke your little butt-buddies ricer box Civics. Figure it out, boy: 300HP and AWD traction. Do I really need to draw you a picture?
4. Unless you can show links to problems with the WRX tranny, you're just talking out your ass. Again.
And WTF do you know about Subaru anyway? You drive a 2k2 Civic SI.

I have no problem with people who take s***ty cars (like a honda civic) and add aftermarket parts to make them into real sport / show cars.
I wouldn't do it myself. I think often the people who do ... well they aren't my style ;-) but this certainly isn't always the case. Still, it is a hobbie, I'm sure it can be really fun and educational. Nothing wrong with that.

I really don't mind these 'rice rockets'. However, some of them are soooo apalling that it's not even funny. Some of them are so loud and make so much noise, but their acceleration is piss poor. Sounds like the car's going to fall apart.. hehe. I mean.. some people mod their cars as a hobby which i bet is a lot of fun (ie. same as always upgrading your comptuer) but there's always a limit on how much you can do to your vehicle..

Largest for exterior accesories, but not for engine/drivetrain.
And definetely not cheapest.

Mod a PC is for me is not for looks more for performance... ie 1700+ to 2800+. I could care less if the case is black, beige, etc. On the other hand i've seen TONS of civic drivers "mod" there cars and this still run like cr@p... stickers, exhaust, rims, etc. No performance gain. I guess the "look" of speed is better than "real" speed  8)
Personally i'm gonna get an Accord or an Impreza... probably and Accord due the the nice comfy size. How's the Mitsubuishi Lancer anyway? Anyone drive it yet? Is it even in Canada?

You know that you're really modding a car for performance when you can no longer really drive said car on the street.
I have a family friend who has a Stage 5 er... car. (crap. not a car person, can't remember...) at any rate, he decided not to drive that on the streets anymore because it just was too powerful.

There are 2 type of moders out there...
the cheap ass wannabe moders who takes a civic and stick low grade after market fake stuff, canadian tire muffler tips and thinks they have hot rides.
then theres those that know what they're doing.
For those who don't know what your doing... dont pretend to .
I have a guy that got a EP3 that blows away a NSX at 1st to 3rd gear. It finally catches up and 4th gear.
A $20k car with 20k mod take out a $100k car.
And thats only only straight track.. try stickin those on a real track with turns...and you wont even be able to see the break lights (.....a little exaggerated...but u get my point)
Mod all you want... but if you cant drive... dont race

Like anything else in the world you have people who know what they are doing and alot of other people who will talk s***.
Simply some people know how to mod a car properly. Sitting down and setting up a plan, laying your engine mods so they will work with, not against each other, etc ..... Other people just buy a magazine and start at it ... no plan just "want to be down"
I drive a truck. Nothing fancy, a dakota, a little pinstripeing, some running boards, and white letter tires. It's fine for me. My next truck will be modified for a little more performance and alot more interior electronics. So I sit down with a mechanic for the engine and an electricial friend of mine for the interior computer. The audio I'm leaving up to an audio engineer.
Spend the money and get it done right. It will look proffesional and gets respect, if that's what your after, from people who can appreciate it. Not 14yr old white guys/girls trying to act hard cause they have no identity themselves.
Ahhh ... weight off chest :)

I'm all for performance add ons if it makes your car fast.. But if you add a loud intake/exhaust system and your car still can't go 0-60 under 7 seconds or do a quarter mile in under 14.5 seconds, its just loud and annoying without a purpose since stock family cars like a Maxima would still be faster.
Don't get me started on cars with the loud exhaust AND the trunk rattling sub in the back destroying the driver's hearing.

I *still* think that not only is racing through downtown reckless, stupid and completely irrational. It's also reckless and dangerous which injures and kills people - usually not the moron driver.
And don't give me a load of hooey about how great of a driver you racers are. When you're going insanely fast there's no way you can avoid the six-year-old who dashes into the street unexpectedly or the person who changes lanes without signalling.

A friend of mine drives an '01 3 series..
People treat him like crap when he's driving that car/tailgate him/never let him have right of way... People don't like BMW drivers, maybe its jealousy or the snob/"parent's money" image it carries or whatever. Its even been keyed at a mall.

Personally I have no problems with modded civics and any other modded cars, because your able to choose your own design and be creative and stand out from a crowd (it all depends on what u do and all). I do agree some are just plain posers, but some are real serious about there sh*# (my friend for example spending close to $10 G’s on aftermarket stuff). Again is easy to mod a civic (accord, Focus, sentra, corolla, etc.) than buying a high end sports car. This is my opinion.
