View Full Version : Missing part of my System Control Panel? Why?

Hi again, quick question, this is a stumper I haven't been able to find the answer to when Googling earlier. I've opened up my System Control Panel and under the Computer section, it simply says this:

Computer:
1.00 GB of RAM

This is really weird, because I remember having it show "Pentium 4" and some other info there before.

What would make it not show that stuff anymore? I'm a bit concerned if it isn't recognizing those parts, and yet, it is working (otherwise I wouldn't be able to type this letter, lol).

Help please? :)

Did you use any tweaking programs for your computer? i know some tweaking programs have the option to change the OEM info. Other than that i'm stumped too why that happend. You can try this, it doesn't fix the problem, but it does offset it a little:

The system is not able to see what your processor is.. thus it has omitted that part and jumped straight to the ram.

Did you overclock your system?

:arrowu: good point, i was assuming everything read okay in her bios. check to see that your bios reads your cpu okay first. if not then you will need a bios update.

Thanks for the suggestions, I definitely didn't overclock anything because I have no idea how to do that. I used some tweaking programs to do things like make menus more snappy, but I don't remember changing anything related to this.

I'm going to have a closer look!

Hmmm that's interesting, I have no OEM info file at all that I could find, and my BIOS certainly reads my CPU fine. I wonder what else could be amiss?

It's hard to tell what program may have altered the information in there, but just try the workaround in the above posted link. As i mentioned, it does not fix your problem, but basically you can use it to add your own information into it, along with a picture if you like. You can create your own OEMINFO.INI file by using notepad and save it under that filename.
