Before i formatted my laptop, i had 1 hard drive in 2 x 7.5 gig partitions.
But after i installed XP i was left with 10 gigs. ( in the installation, i deleted the partition and used NTFS) Is there any LOGICAL (think Spock) Explaination for this? Thanks

No, both NT and XP both use the NTFS file system. The only thing I could think of is maybe you set the cluster size too big so it couldn't make full use of space in the allocation but still, 5 GB difference is is a lot.

Probably part of the answer is Windows XP as in the operating system is not the same size as Windows NT but I'm not sure where the rest would have gone. What did the installation say about your partition after you deleted it?

Goto start -> run. Type diskmgmt.msc & press enter/ok.

See if you have any unused space...
