Less of a difference now between the iBooks and Powerbooks...not much that would justify the huge price difference.

was hoping for widescreen, guess that wasn't in the cards
it will be interesting to see the canadian prices (since they can be off sometimes), and how much the discount is on the educational pricing. Getting one of these, with the educational discount, and a free ipod mini is pretty tempting!

Yup, and it's pretty have to get in there too. It's not externally accessible by removing a panel, you have to take it apart to get to the hard drive.

Not sure the cost, I'm still using my Powerbook standard drive. But here's a guide that will show you how to do it:

well problem is with the new sensor or active protection, it might be a little trickier? maybe i doubted
i'll give it a go at it ..see if i like the standard 4200rpm ..i may opt for the 5400 when i need the space later on but probably not after the warranty expires

I think the sensor is a part of the hard drive. It just locks the head when it senses abrupt movement.

So using edu pricing, you can get the new 12" for $1200, sell the ipod mini for $200 easy here on rfd, and get a final price of about 1000 + tax? That's a pretty good deal for a nice and small notebook with about a 6 hour battery.
I am really tempted to switch now.....maybe I should wait another 6 months for x86.....

A weak update. Up to 1.33 for the 12"? Yikes, I've had my 1.33 powerbook for over 15 months now. But if your top end powerbook is only 1.5, I suppose that there needs to still be some distance . . . But throwing in BT and Wireless is like a free $150, so its a pretty good deal I suppose.
My perfect powerbook is a 12" with 1200 x 960, or 1600 x 1200 resolution - when are you going to give up some options in terms of screen real estate Steve?

1600x1200 on a 12" ? yikes
i think it would be more reasonable to have 1152x864

Would my nine year old qualify for this "educational" deal? ;)
