Where did you have your hair cut? Did you have your hair washed for free? Who cut your hair, young girl? old lady? How much did you pay for it? Any free drink? How long was the hair cut? Other comments?

Wow... alot of questions.
I usually pay $12 for a cut at First Choice, and either get a young or old lady.
Although a friend of mine recently bought her own hair salon, so I'll try that place out.

I get my hair cut at Zeller's Friendly Cuts. It's some middle-aged dude with what sounds like a Bulgarian accent. 12$ afteer taxs w/ a stamp on a card (free cut after 12 stamps) and a lollipop. This one time, the dude wasn't there, so it was his wife (I think) cutting my hair. When it came time to do the back of the neck, she used a razorblade... I was scared at first, but she assured me she knew what she was doing, and it turned out great.

If you must know...I pay $25. A young girl cuts my hair and I tip $5. The wash is included. The hair cut usually lasts about 45 minutes and I do get free drinks.

Depends on the style I am looking for. During the winter months, I pay $22 plus tip at my barber. During the summer months, I go to a salon to get my summer highlights done and spend closer to $100 to get the whole thing. I do get coffee, lattes, cappuccino, pop, but at that price, it ain't free. The wash was is included in the $100. Yeah, yeah, a lot of coin on both haircuts, but I have to look good on the job, so I can't risk a college or Supercuts doing it and screwing it up. No offense to the Supercut people, but I like my hair to much to put it at risk for $10.

i heard that some downtown salons (like salon daniel in yorkville) serve sushi to their clients.
i pay $40 +$6-8 tip at the salon i regularly go to, which includes scalp/shoulder massage, wash, facial/hot towel treatment, cut/style and drinks/snacks. i also get free maintenance trim/cut in-between paid haircuts ...no appointment required.
expensive, but i've never been satisfied with the results from cheaper places.
milkywind, it is customary to tip the stylist/barber. i'm surprised you've gotten away with it for so long, or haven't seen anyone tip at the places you go to (the service must be *****e). it's also becoming more common to tip the shampoo girl/guy, colourist etc... in addition to the stylist/barber.

I pay about $47 /w tip. That includes the wash, scalp massage and free maintenance. I keep my hair longer these days and only get a haircut every 3 months. I'm not some fancy boy or anything, its just that the job they do is really worth the extra dough. I used to goto First Choice and those mall places, never again though...

There is a hairstyling school on dundas at cawthra and they only charge $5 for the haircut. Often if the student doesn't know how to do the cut you ask for the teacher will do it and all the students watch

I work at a high-end hair salon just north of Brampton. We charge $40 for womens and $27 for mens. This includes, scalp massage, hand massage, wash, cut stly and blow dry.
Color and highlight prices are quite abit more but the cut and the above mentioned services are included in the price. We serve coffee and herbal teas (we have our own brand).
As for there being no tax on haircuts, your wrong. Only GST is charged on haircuts. Tips usually are between 15-20 % of the serive total before tax, obviously more if your really happy.
