Hey guys.

I'm a little bit out of my element on this one. I'm looking at purchasing a domain name soon, though primarily to be used with email?

What I mean by that, is that initially, I'll just be looking to have a few email address with the domain name, with a website to follow at some unknown point in the future. All of these domain name registration things + hosting I see on here, would they be suitable for that? Or are these just website hosting things?

I hope that makes some sense..

Thank you

Go for the Dreamhost one; $10 USD for your first year and they have email and webmail, plus PHP and MySQL for websites.

EDIT: Check this thread: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127399&highlight=dreamhost

Be careful of those $10/20 per year hosts, they're fly by night, just trying to get business and off the ground. Go to http://www.webhostingtalk.com and read up there, lots of knowledgeable people and a vendor section.

Register your own domain name so you own it (some places will register it for you, but then they "own" it -- sometimes), then get a cheap hosting company with low requirements (10-100 MB space, low bandwidth).

lots of reliable host can be found under $5/per month (small disk space
+reasonable bandwith)

i am skeptical about dreamhost as well, $10 for the first year, they must cram lots of accounts under 1 server to make it work.
