If anyone finds a praying mantis, capture it and I will give you $10 for each one. I am located in Toronto, so this applies only to fellow Torontonians.

If you see one, but are scared... don't worry they don't bite. :cheesygri

If you find one and want to sell it, you can reach me at my email : z24_dennis@hotmail.com

Cheers

I remember when I found this huge one over in Singapore. It was like 20 centimetres long and it was huge. They don't bite but their arms are very sharp and serated(?). They might cut you.

males can fly, females are too heavy.

there are 2 species living in Ontario, both are immigrants brought in as pest control originally.
Mantis religiosa - from Europe
Tenodera spp (probably sinensis) - Asia
Both grow to 100mm maximum, look similar, colour ranges from green through brown (depending on the weather before the last moult actually, if it was very dry they turn brown, if it was wet and humid they go or stay green)

there is a sp. native to Canada (BC i think) but it's pretty small and i cant remember its name, lol

You guys are all too funny! I really only want 1 or 2... and no not to eat. ;)

I remember having one when I was a kid, they are pretty cool to watch. I used to hand feed it grasshoppers and crickets. I had it living in a little aquarium then later on put him on a plant in my house. He stayed there all day, and even though they can fly he never did. The downside is that they only live from spring to fall.

I know you can buy Mantis egg sacs from some garden stores and let them hatch in your backyard. They are great at reducing the annoying insects in your backyard.

Anyways, i recently found one at work ( i work construction). They are so cool, but I would like a couple more, but they are so rare to find.

So yeah... that's my little story on the mantis request.

Cheers
