I'm looking for a deal on designer frames and thin lenses at an optical in the GTA, in the ballpark of $3-400. Can anyone recommend a good place to shop? Failing that, it's back to Lenscrafters for 30% off with CAA membership.
Thanks in advance!

go to pacific mall in markham. there are tons of optical stores there and you can try to bargain a bit if you pay cash.

Try Great Glasses (http://www.greatglasses.ca)
3 deisgner pairs (1 sun, 2 optical) for $600 isn't too bad. and they wirte up the receipt as 1 price so the insurances don't have a fit.

Try Chinatown Optical @ 424 Dundas St (just east of Spadina). Ask for a good deal. They have great service and even better prices. I got my designer frames for 2/3 the cost that a Bloor Street optical place sold it for.

Costco has pretty good pricing I think.
If your optometrist sells glasses, they only charge a dispensing fee ($75 I think) and not a markup on the item, so you should definately get a quote from him/her and compare it to everywhere else!

Try Laurier Optical.
I shop at the one in Ottawa only but they have one in TO.
Last year I got a 3 for 1 deal.
you pay the full price for the most expensive pair of glasses, get the second free and the 3 for is free contacts and they let me get 2 boxes of my disposables instead.
I spend about $450 and got 2 designer frames (one Ralph Lauren and some other European brand i forget + 2 boxes disposable contacts).
They also have a clearance section with designer frames and sometimes you can find some nice ones from a last years model for under $100.
I just got 2 extra pairs a few months ago with frames made in Germany for $75 ea including lenses.
haven't been there lately though.

you can probably bargain with them too (I managed to on a couple pairs of designer sunglasses)

Walmart has decent prices and if you go with the ultra-thin lens option you might get what you want. I get my contacts there for a good price and they seem to have a good selection of frames as well.

I purchased my last pair from this place when I first found out about them .. they've been around for years! I have a VERY strong bifocal prescription, (got the invisible lines), ultra thin with titanium designer frames, custom made clip-ons & state-of-the art coating (cant remember name). Definitely worth checking out .. you won't be disappointed!

Anyone have any ideas specifically in Mississauga? Aside from Fuji Optical (I've had bad experiences with them).
